Don’t share until it’s done.

Gemstone, much like it’s wise to not tell everybody your business, it’s best not to share with others or talk too much about what you’re cooking up or what goals you’re setting in motion until well—you’ve completed them.

In psychology, the act of disclosing or oversharing huge goals is equivalent to generating the same feelings and emotions you experience when you actually accomplish those goals. The false sense of satisfaction that comes from the praise and acknowledgment of others for merely working towards your goals creates a false narrative that can make you feel like you’ve achieved your goal already.

This inadvertently results in a greater chance of you not following through with your actual goals because of the artificial feeling of completion that accommodates premature recognition and celebration.

So, keep quiet, keep at it, and don’t share until it’s done.

JANUARY 2 GEM

Ask for 100%.

Shoot for the moon! You may land in the stars. This saying applies to asking for what you want.

Don’t downgrade whatever you are asking for, Gemstone. Ask for exactly what you want, because what you want is what you want…and that’s what you want.

You have greater potential for receiving a greater percentage of what you want (maybe even 100%!) just by asking for it. Go for the jugular, as the phrase goes, and ask for 100%. After all, you won’t be disappointed if you land with ninety-nine.

JANUARY 3 GEM

Invest in yourself.

Simply put, whatever you’re good at, put your time, money, and energy into that. Feed your talents, Gemstone.

Your natural talents are a gift from above (Rom. 12:6—8). Operating within your God-given talents allows you to excel and also helps you help others (Prov. 18:16). Many people have trouble realizing what their gift is because it comes so naturally to them. It’s hard for them to accept that their gift is a gift, but others always see it.

If you struggle with figuring out what your gift is, think about times when people have said to you, Wow, you’re really good at that! What were you doing then? Think about what you know how to do that’s pretty easy for you but is challenging for others. Is it singing, public speaking, or caregiving? Or maybe leading, baking, doing interior design, teaching, or developing a business? Maybe it’s hairstyling.

Whatever comes naturally to you only requires some refining, whereas the things that don’t come easily require a great deal of learning, studying, imitating, and replicating.

Invest in yourself. Invest in your natural, God-given talents to grow and expand your talents and to get a maximum return on your investments.

JANUARY 4 GEM

A power move.

Often, you may find yourself being a friend’s brain or the brain of a professional group or team. Now it’s time to flip the switch! For once, scale back on being the head of the pack, the know-it-all, the go-to person, the head honcho, the numero uno, the nucleus, the brain.

Don’t let this piece of advice scare you. This is certainly not about stripping away any of your power—it’s a power move, Gemstone. Take a step back and learn from others. Value their opinions and input.

How can you ever gain new knowledge and grow if you’re always the leader of the pack? Where’s the reciprocity of each one teach one in that?

That said, if you’ve completely outgrown a group, while it doesn’t hurt to stay connected to them, you need to find more people of greater intelligence to surround yourself with.

There is no reason to stunt your personal or your professional growth, not ever!

Take something off your plate.

Constantly creating is the only way to keep growing your business and your brand.
