Piyush Somani was born in a middle-class family hailing from a small town in Maharashtra. His father served at the Bank of Baroda for 33 years, and his mother, Sarala Somani, continues to be a homemaker and is now a Shareholder in ESDS. Piyush completed his engineering in 2002 and moved to Mumbai to take his first job as a Purchase Executive in an instrument
manufacturing company for 4 months, and later, he worked in Nashik in a BPO company for 10 months. A year later, in 2004, Piyush quit his job and started his Web- hosting support 
business with a total of seven partners. In January 2005, Piyush registered his company as ‘ESDS Software Solution Pvt. Ltd.’ making him the first-generation entrepreneur who had the
vision to deliver Exuberant Support and Data Center Services to customers globally.

I dedicate this book to my father, who shaped me into a better human being and created the vision of being an entrepreneur in my mind. He has been a motivation to me in every walk of my life. As his son, I try to be as good as him all the time and I restrict myself within the limits that he had set for himself.

H

aving spent 20 years in the field of technology now, it takes me back to the promise I once made of not touching computers ever in my life. Little did I know that my life would revolve around the same thing I probably thought I had enmity for. I believe we live in a world where the yellow brick road has many forks which may take us on many incredible journeys. It’s interesting to know the final destination of these journeys though. My appreciation of life and its journey so far has come from the struggles and sacrifices that I have faced to become someone worth reading about.

One thing that struck my mind when I thought of writing this book was to impart my experiences with people I know and others who want to know me. I believe the purpose of life is discovered only when you live through certain experiences. My diverse encounters so far have made me realize the true purpose of life. Learning and unlearning things in the excursion of life connects the dots and paves the way towards the future. With time, many things unfolded in my life and I could figure out the purpose of my life. Post that, I developed a new thought process for rest of my life.

There has been a complete 180-degree shift in the perceptions that I have had over the years and I have grown through all of it. Changing perceptions with the dynamics of development has made me strong and ever-ready for any paradigm shift. With this, I must say, Everything around us changes, but the only thing that remains constant is ‘You.’ Acceptance of the fact that everything happens for a bigger purpose in life is what it takes to pursue a vision.

The future is determined with inspiration. However, the inspiration of life comes only from living it—being a part of the struggles and sacrifices it throws at you. My inspiration comes from the learning and experiences that I have had, and I invoke people to read and relate to the story of my life. With this book, I also want to reach out to the pillars of the future—‘the youth’ and contribute my bit towards bringing about positive transformation in their lives.

Writing this book took me on a flashback trail of my journey of the past 20 years, during which I happened to connect all the dots and realized that a lot of positive changes happened in this process. This book is a beautiful picture of the canvas of my life. It helped me again to uphold my purpose to live for people and work for their betterment. I became aware of how my aspirations and determination could alter the lives of people around me and help them to survive, live, and grow.

To live or to survive is not restricted to having food, clothing, shelter, and money, and there is happiness beyond all these material possessions. My passion is to make the 7 billion people in the world happy, and I am working in the direction of ‘What can make them truly happy?’ This happiness will come when we unfold our future based on the marks left behind by our past to create a better human out of ourselves. I hope my journey in this book will connect the readers with my passion, and one day they will agree with me that living for others can spread happiness in manifold.

I had several realizations while writing this book. I believe that there is a Guru above me who has created the canvas of my life, and I am walking on that script. I had a positive realization too in the course of writing. This book is not the end, but there is still much I have to do which will lead the world towards positive transformation. This is just the beginning. I simply ask my readers for their time to read this book and build their own path of transformation hereafter. This book doesn’t aim to earn something but only to give out a lot of me to them.

To be honest, I never had much interest in academics. But, one decision of my father proved to be a turning point in my life. He enrolled me in a computer C++ course. In the meantime, one of the students gave me a book authored by Shiv Khera called ‘You Can Win’. The book made a huge impact on me and steered the wheel of my life, making me cognizant about positive thinking, tackling tough situations, and developing the correct perspective about one’s life.

Over time, I developed an interest in the computer field and worked for about two years in Nashik and Mumbai. These two years are the roots of ‘what’ and ‘why’ I have built today. The experiences gained within this little time were enough to sharpen my vision of establishing not just a software company but a peoples’ company. It was my father and a maternal uncle who further led me on my way to the world of business, thus giving birth to ESDS Software Solution. I have been blessed to work in a profession that I developed a passion for, right in Nashik, my hometown, which I worship.

Lastly, a book is born from years of experience and is nurtured from the journey that it creates. It is uncertain how we look ahead to these things and perceive them as an opportunity. All the shadows of my life have been reflected in the most fruitful manner. And, if I was granted the prospect of reliving my life, I would not change a single thing—nothing added, nothing subtracted. This book is an epic synopsis of struggle, setback, renewed hope, and the ultimate triumph met between these covers. Struggle is good for life, I believe, and hence, this book is my note of all the struggles that I have encountered and passed to thrive as a man of great vision.
