Author

Laura Watkins

Laura Watkins was often found drawing on wallpaper as a child. There just weren’t enough regular sheets of paper to keep up with the demand! But since graduating with a degree in illustration in 2011, Laura has been very busy and very content to work on books. When she’s not drawing, Laura is usually found riding horses or trying to keep control of her two Irish Setters.

    Foreword

What’s in My Book: Ascending From Everlasting Destruction to Eternal Life is a book which deals with ways to find happiness and peace in life, in a variety of areas—family, health, business, friendships, etc. Using the author’s own personal journey to finding a more meaningful relationship with God as the backdrop for the premise of this information, the author shows how the reader can use not only her own experiences, but specific verses from the Bible to link happiness and a strong spiritual and religious lifestyle.

The strength in this book is the way the author uses her firsthand experiences to illustrate each point she strives to make with reference to finding everyday events that can be strengthened, improved, and healed with a stronger relationship with God. The author strategically intersperses relevant Bible verses to illustrate these points.

    Dedication

First, I dedicate this book to God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit for without Their creation and love, I am nothing.

To the Five-Fold Ministry, apostles, prophets, evangelist, preachers, teachers, old and young, founders and new members, may God continue to guide you in His way of teaching His Holy word.

To the brave men and women of the Armed Forces past and present, who stood on the carpet, raised your right hand, and took the oath to serve, I honor you for Standing the Watch. May God bless you all. Chief Yeoman (Surface Warfare), United States Navy (Retired).

To the readers of this book, I want to encourage you to allow God to do a new thing for you! Just try asking, believing, and seeking Him. For through the Son of God, and the help of the Holy Spirit all things are possible.

    Acknowledgements

I give honor, praise, and exaltation to our God, Yah, the Father, the Great I Am, the Creator of man, specifically for this purpose of sharing His word and being a messenger throughout the world for Him.

To my parents and sister, the late Harry Lee Watkins Sr., Laura Etta Watkins, and Elaine Marie Brown, I love and miss you all so much. Sister, your Bible study homework saved my life. ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ … that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them" (Revelation 14:13 [NKJV]).

To my loving son Robert, your support, sense of humor and uplifting spirit encourages me to fulfill my right-now goals and dreams.

To my brother Harry and sister-in-law Catrena, I deeply appreciate and love each one of you. To Arnett (Smiley), you have been a part of our family since my childhood. Thank you for being a big brother, comforter, and solid rock for the entire family.

    Introduction

Come see and hear! Yes, I said, Come see and hear! For what’s in my book will cause judgement from man and God. Now, allow me to introduce myself. I, Laura Elizabeth Watkins of Nashville, Tennessee was born on April 10, 1967. The youngest of three, my late mother, whom I love dearly, made it verbally clear that I was not supposed to be here. From her own words, she told me, After I gave your daddy a son (second born), I didn’t want any more children. My brother and I are thirteen months apart. But do not feel sorrow for me. Created in Heaven, and sent to Earth by God the Creator, I am here today to tell you what’s in my book!

I am a graduate of East Nashville High School (EAST HIGH!!!) and Strayer University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. After twenty years of honorable service, I retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer Yeoman, (Surface Warfare). I am proud of the latter. However, my biggest accomplishment is that I am a faithful messenger of God. I give thanks to my parents who raised me in love and faith. But I must truly give high honor to my late sister, mentor, and spiritual elder Elaine, (Bug as daddy nicknamed her), for helping me to transition back to God on a whole new level. Through her spiritual wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and teachings of God’s word, I became inspired to finally author this book. Sister, I miss you, and I cannot thank you enough!

It has always been a lifelong goal for me to author a book. The only problem, I did not have anything in my spirit that I felt worth writing about until now. Coming out of the wilderness at the age of fifty-five, the time is now! I am a single mom of one son. I got married, (not to my son’s father), when I was fifty-two, on my sister’s birthday (October 5th), in the living room of my childhood home. Unfortunately, things did not work out as planned. Not even a good year or so after the wedding, I found myself divorced from the head pastor of a storefront church. Now, I know I am not perfect, and there are always two sides to why a marriage does not work, but I am not ashamed to share my life and what thus says the Lord! I’m excited and have something to teach!

So, here’s a quick background of what inspired me to start writing. On May 5, 1988, I left my hometown (Nashville, Tennessee), to start my journey as a sailor in the U.S. Navy. That was the day I took my very first airplane ride to Orlando, Florida. After arriving at the bootcamp facility, I said to myself, What did I just do? Let me tell you, my time in bootcamp was not easy. There were times when it became difficult for me because I refused to submit to those appointed over me. Instead of humbling myself, and allowing them to instruct me, I required extra incentive. I remember being awakened at 3:00 a.m., having to wear a black skull cap on my head, and marching to the gymnasium. Once there, others and I endured about an hour of repetitive exercises or Intensive Training (IT). Trust me, after a couple of these, I learned my lesson. Through self-control, faith, and prayer, I transitioned from everlasting destruction to becoming an obedient follower and respected shipmate.
