    Setting the Stage

The most creative act you will ever undertake is the act of creating yourself.

    ~ Deepak Chopra

IMAGINE you’re walking into a playhouse; you hand the usher your ticket for the show and enter through the double doors into the theater. You look for your seat location by the dim glow of the track lights on the floor. You follow your way down the walkway to your row and shuffle into your seat.

You’ve got a good view of the stage ahead. Its presence is enchanting, with its big red velvet curtains flanking the stage held back by oversized golden ropes. So majestic and grand. Music starts to fade in and the lights grow dimmer. You get eager in your seat as the center curtain starts to rise. And the show begins as the light illuminates the set on stage.

The set seems familiar. As the main character enters center stage you can’t believe what you see, it’s you. A mirror image of yourself. Then you realize the scene, actors, and main character are from your life. Scenes from a time in your life when you felt forced or confused into a direction. A time when you use to dream but felt the weight of others influences and your uncertainty. And it was playing out now right in front of you on stage.

You begin to notice times, events, people and actions you took or didn’t take that could have been different that lead you in certain directions. It occurs to you, looking around the theater, that you are the only one there. The theater is empty, and you are the only observer of what seems to be a performance of pieces of your own life.

You notice a writing pad and pen in the seat next to you. On the front page of the pad it says, ‘When writing the story of your life, don’t let anyone else hold the pen.’ You open the pad and begin writing. As you write the scenes on stage begin to change. You feel energized with a power never before felt. You have total control. You realize the play will take form and the direction you give it.

Your life is the most creative act you will ever undertake as you invent yourself and design the life you live. Why not take center stage as the main character of the play of your life. Be the hero the fulfills the dreams your life story is filled with. Cast co-stars that will help you achieve the life you desire and deserve and build the muscles to sustain it.

The Theatrics of Success inspires your inner Writer, Actor, Director and Producer to help you create the show of a lifetime, Your Life As You Like It. Through The Actor Within and The Actors Journey you are guided in writing, acting, directing and producing the life you desire and deserve. While unleashing your hidden potential to become the person you need to be in order to sustain the life you want.

If you want a healthy loving relationship, financial freedom, your own business, to be successful in your career, or more fulfilled; that’s awesome and you’re not alone. As a matter of fact, most everyone wants that. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to attain or create the experiences needed to have the life they want. Maybe it’s because you weren’t taught how to achieve such things, your family history hasn’t supported it, or maybe you simply don’t believe you have the skills or are entitled to such a life.

In any case, the fact is that who you think you are and can become is the very thing that will determine your ability to succeed at the steps needed to have the life you want. And whether you are able to unleash your potential and be the hero you want or need to be in creating the life you desire and deserve depends on the Condition of Your Life as it is.

Whether it’s about finding peace, reconciling, growing gratitude, getting a redo in some aspect of your life experience, or starting off on the right foot; it’s your right to be happy, enjoy life, experience love, be financially secure, and healthy. And at the very least get the chance to do so.

The Theatrics of Success is about embarking on the Actor’s Journey and unleashing your true Actor Within. A way to help you create the Life you Desire and Deserve by unleashing your Hero’s potential. I call this journey, The Move from the Land of Make Believe to the Land of Make and Believe. If you want to achieve your ambitions, dreams and goals and have an abundant life, you need to be successful at certain steps. As well as be the type of person that can withstand opposition and sustain those dreams and ambitions.

And to do this your mind, beliefs, and habits must be in alignment with the right substance of what and how to make it happen. You also need a specific team to help chart the course and support you in ways that will enable you to be successful in those steps needed to achieve.

Shakespeare has expressed for ages the idea that we are all performers on the stage of life, ‘All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts…’ Through this perspective we are all the main character or hero of our own play. And with others being either supporting or non-supporting actors throughout our life performance. And the same is true vice-versa.

If your life and its development or creation is the most creative thing you can ever undertake, than why not get all the help you can in creating it. But not just any help. I’m talking about the perfect team that embodies every aspect needed to ensure the job gets done right, for you and by you. If you want to build a house, you don’t hire a gardener. If you want to learn to drive, you don’t hire an architect.

The Theatrical Archetypes is the perfect team to support you and to be at your disposal in attaining the life you desire and in becoming your own Hero: The Writer, Actor, Director and Produce. These archetypes are the quintessential role models that host the needed attributes required to help you produce the most creative act of your life – your life. Guiding you to unleash your full potential and build the muscles needed to support your dreams and aspirations.

Through this you can stand center stage of your life and shine in it.

    A Paradigm Shift

Your life may not be a performance in the theatrical sense. Even though there might be ‘drama’ in it. However, with a subtle shift in perspective you will more easily see there isn’t much of a difference between your life and a theatrical production. And through this same view, you’ll see how possible it is to create the life you want. As well as unleash your hero’s potential by using the theater and its archetypes to guide you.

In the day and a life of your life, don’t you move throughout your days entering and exiting a variety of scenes; home, work, school, relationships, parenthood. And all of them different with distinctive vibrations, interests and interactions needed. They each have different agendas, attitudes, and personality reflected through them. Aren’t there other performers in your scenes, people you engage with, those you like, appose or navigate around or would like to engage with? In so many ways aren’t you the main character of the play of your life performance and all the others are co-stars?

Your life play is developed through your decisions and actions both taken and not taken within each scene entered and exited throughout any given day over the course of your life. And those daily scenes evolve creating situations and circumstance in later scenes and acts of your life. The decisions you make on how you act out within any given circumstance is based on your perception and beliefs about yourself, the outside world, and the role you play in that world. And this has ultimately been influenced through your back story, the experiences you’ve had that has made you who you are (the why you think and act the way you do). Your sense of fear, shyness, adventure, caution or self-confidence - you have or don’t have.

Psychologists say perception is NOT reality. Yet, as much as this may be true, the fact is that your Perception influences the Creation of your Reality. How you perceive yourself and your role in the world, what you believe to be possible, what you believe you are capable of and how this all comes together is your compass that creates your reality. And that guides and manifests your reality and produces your life play.

So, a paradigm shift of your view of yourself and the role you play in the world would be the best remedy for the challenging questions you ask yourself concerning the how, what, when, why, and where to’s of life. It is my intention to disrupt your perception of yourself and your life, what you believe to be possible and what you believe you are capable of. Disrupting your sense of normal or what is supposed to be, what can be, and what is possible will empower you.

The Theatrics of Success helps you point your True Self Compass in the best direction to help you Write with a Renewed Passion your genuine Life-script. Act with Authenticity the steps needed to succeed by empowering your Hero – Your True Actor Within, Direct with Efficiency and Intention to increase probability, and Produce with Gratitude and Self-Leadership a life that is Self-Determined. While unleashing your Hero’s potential to ensure being able to support and sustain the life you desire and deserve.

Get Ready For What You Want

The warning label on this says: If you’re looking for a quick fix – it’s not here. However, the tools, tips, tricks, exercises, and methods can produce quicker results. The time and results depend on you. You can work one area of your life at a time or many. However, it is a life journey process and is made to evolve with you and your life, being applicable through the various stages of life. Yet, with that said, you will see results soon after you begin any aspect of The Actors Journey.

Building the life you desire and deserve will take time and effort yes, but don’t look at it as taking time and effort. Looking at things from the burdening perspective adds weight. Consider viewing the journey as one that benefits you in growing strong roots so that you can weather stormy days and endure the experience till the end. Here is a little tale that expresses this perception quite nicely.

A man got frustrated with life. Despite all the hard work and effort, failure was all that he learnt. Feeling defeated with life, he left everything and exiled himself in the woods. There he met a Hermit. The disappointed man shared is failure with the hermit. Give me one good reason not to quit?- He pleaded to the Hermit.

Look, the hermit said, pointing towards two plants. "Do you see that fern and bamboo there?

    Yes, the man nodded.

When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them water, light and fertilizer. Within a short period of time the fern quickly grew from the earth, the hermit continued.

But despite the Bamboo seed being watered and nurtured for years, it did not outwardly grow as much as an inch. In fact, nothing at all happened in the first year. There was no sign of growth. But I did not give up on the Bamboo seed and continued to water and nurture it. By the fifth year, a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. And within six months, the tree grew a hundred feet tall.

So, did the bamboo tree lie dormant for four years only to grow exponentially in the fifth? the hermit asked. Baffled by the question the man kept quiet. The answer is quite obvious. The little tree was growing underground, developing a root system strong enough to support its potential for outward growth in the fifth year and beyond. Had the tree not developed a strong foundation, it would not have sustained its life as it grew.

Did you know that all the time you had been struggling, you were growing strong roots, remarked the hermit.

The man learned his lesson that day. He learnt the value of persistence and hard work. The fern and the bamboo stood right in front of him as he walked towards his life to continue to work on his dreams.

It takes time to grow strong roots, but once you do you will be able to weather the strongest of storms that come your way. The more care you take and patience you have help to build the muscles your hero needs to be able to sustain the life you desire. Manifesting the life you want means tilling the ground, planting seeds, and nurturing the growth through conversations, relationships, patience, and steadfastness.

My father and grandfather used to tell me to keep my hands out of my pockets. That keeping my hands in my pockets meant that I was not ready to work. And having always been caught with my hands in my pockets, I hated hearing this repeatedly, simply because I never thought I wasn’t ready to work. I just assumed it was a hand me down from older generational ways of thinking and seeing things. You might call it generational overflow.

Over the years I learned that the idea of keeping your hands out of your pockets can be a useful timeless message. For example, growing up in America and playing baseball, we were always told to stand with our hands on our knees in the ‘ready position’. In American professional baseball you never see a player with their hands in their pockets. Instead, they are always ready to act quickly to a play: squatted, hands on the knees and alert. You need to be ready, pay attention and alert in your life, so when opportunities come, information is presented, insight reveals itself; you can receive it, know when and how to respond. This is a position of readiness and attentiveness.

You are going to work for the life you want and the person you want to or need to become in order to have that life. So, if you really want the life you dream of or be the person you believe you can be, then keep your hands out of your pockets and be ready for the play.

Through using the Theatrics of Success and embarking on the Actors Journey you will need to have your hands out of your pockets and position yourself ready to work for what you want.

As much as this isn’t a book on baseball, although I like to use metaphors, neither is it a book on Acting or the Theater at least in the traditional sense. This is a book on the Theater of Life and Acting out your personal performance and life script. Offering you the opportunity to be the Hero of your story, standing center stage and in the spotlight of your life performance. Essentially, living your life from a place of authenticity, desire, self-empowerment, confidence, and value. The Theater is used as a basis for the structure and perception shifting elements to inform, guide and clarify where you came from, where you are heading and the overall production of your new Life Performance. You are put in the Writer’s, Actor’s, Director’s, and Producer’s seat of your life through both Traditional and State-Of-The-Art techniques.

    Success, Achieve and Abundance

Throughout the book I use the terms Success, Achieve and Abundance. The way you interpret and apply them can make a difference in your ability to succeed, achieve and attain abundance. I may use them differently then you are used to. So, for good measure here is my interpretation of them in use of the Theatrics of Success. Success is needed along the way to Achievement. And both are only recognized through an embrace of the value of being Abundant.

Success (to Succeed), Achievement (to Achieve) and Abundance (to be Abundant) are things we all seek in one way or another. And the way we relate to them is one key that tells whether we will meet with them or not. In my experience, Success is a result of certain action steps taken that produce a specific result in Achieving a larger more meaningful goal. However, being able to be successful at the needed steps is reliant, to a greater or lesser degree, on your belief in attaining abundance.

Abundance comes as a result of being Successful at certain steps in Achieving a specific desired goal.

Therefore, Achievement is something you Receive or Acquire via being Successful at certain steps. Abundance is something you Tap Into, embrace and are aware of that is universally available and accessible to us all – a deserving of fulfillment.

You want financial wealth, you want a new sports car, you want to have the house on the hill, find your soulmate, or you want to be more fulfilled. These wants are meaningful desired end-result goals, something you strive to achieve. And when you achieve them, you will be rewarded with the abundance they can offer you. But you must be successful at certain steps to achieve them. And for this to all happen, you need to believe you are suited for receiving the Abundance, reward, that comes from them. For instance, if you don’t believe you are deserving of love or admiration, you will find it difficult to be successful at the steps needed to acquire certain relationships, therefore not achieving the goal of having one.

Consider this in another way. If you don’t believe you are capable of receiving Abundance in life (are able to or worthy of receiving what you want or be your best self), how in the world are you going to be Successful at the steps needed to Achieve getting your wants, wishes or desires met?

    My Story and Voice

I am a straight shooter and pretty much get to the point, even if I like to use metaphors and repeat certain content purposefully. I provide as much data, information and expertise as possible, yet some things can’t be explained, rationalized or defended nor shouldn’t. I believe things are better understood when we are ready to hear and understand them. As well, I don’t like being left in the dark to someday finding the light. So, it is my intention to offer you a light to be able to shine on your own path through life without unsolvable brainteasers. Life itself is a mystery enough.

Over the years I’ve read tons of books, attended dozens of seminars, and spoke with thousands of people from around the world. I sat with his Holiness the Dalai Lama, prayed with various Hindi guru’s, meditated, and studied with a Tao Master. I studied Metaphysics and delved deep into understanding our Story (Mythically and figuratively), studied Psychology, Sociology and Human Behavior. I’ve gained an intimate comprehension of Acting through twenty plus years in the performing arts as an actor, writer, and director. Which has brought me here now and this book to you.

In the account of my life, I have not always been happy, although there have been moments of happiness in my life. I never truly felt fulfilled with what I was doing, but I did enjoy aspects of various things I did. I did not always have the life I wanted. Then I got to a point where things weren’t enough and I needed something in a
