Connor Whiteley

Hello, I'm Connor Whiteley, I am an 18-year-old who loves to write creatively, and I wrote my Brownsea trilogy when I was 14 years old after I went to Brownsea Island on a scout camp. At the camp, I started to think about how all the broken tiles and pottery got there and somehow a trilogy got created. Moreover, I love writing fantasy and sci-fi novels because you’re only limited by your imagination. In addition, I'm was an Explorer Scout and I love camping, sailing and other outdoor activities as well as cooking.Furthermore, I do quite a bit of charity work as well. For example: in early 2018 I was a part of a youth panel which was involved in creating a report with research to try and get government funding for organised youth groups and through this panel. I was invited to Prince Charles’ 70th birthday party and how some of us got in the royal photograph. Finally, I am going to university and I hope to get my doctorate in clinical psychology in a few years.

Kendra Detective Mystery Short Story Collection Volume 3 - Connor Whiteley

    A SMOKEY WAY TO GO

Retired Detective Kendra O’Connor had always used smoked foods. Be it smoked BBQ, meats and even fruit. Smoking food always gave it such an extra layer of amazing depth and flavour that Kendra just couldn’t get enough of it.

But when Kendra had received a cold case from the London Metropolitan Police Cold Case task force, she hadn’t expected an entire human body to be smoked to death.

As a member of the Cold Case Task Force, Kendra had seen some pretty weird, strange and just flat out creepy cases from them, this was probably one of the worst. And that included a naked young man who had been found in a cube of glass.

Kendra sat at her favourite little café in all of London as she sat in one of the bright red booths near the back of the café. It was just perfect for police work because it was more than okay to see and hear what other people were saying, but it wasn’t so close to others that they could overhear the important police work she was doing.

Kendra loved the rich aromas like rich succulent meats, juicy burgers and golden crispy fries coming from the kitchen. Some of the young families in the café were going to be in for a wonderful treat today!

The burgers here were out of this world!

As much as Kendra wanted to indulge in a burger she hated how her doctor had rather forcefully commanded her not to have anything fatty for the next week whilst they worked on her bloods.

Apparently she should have been put on high blood pressure and cholesterol tablets years ago. Kendra didn’t think her diet was that bad, but she had looked at the results herself. They were horrific and she was basically a dead woman walking at this point.

Thankfully (as the doctors put it) she was young (66) and in physically good shape, but that was half the problem. Kendra loved eating rubbish yet she burnt it off doing these cold cases and at the gym. Yet clearly her own body didn’t agree that she was being as healthy as she believed.

Kendra took the doctor’s advice of eating better and she did have time thankfully (unlike a lot of other people) to change her ways and still live a long healthy life.

The wonderfully warm mug of strong bitter coffee in Kendra’s hands was probably the one area of her life that she was never ever going to give up. She loved the strong bitter battery acid burning flavour of coffee.

There was no way in hell she was giving it up.

Kendra knew that any moment her two best friends Retired Detective Jeff Long and Retired Officer Patricia Nelson would arrive to start working on the cold case. And Kendra was so excited about it.

When she had worked with the Met Police decades before she had seen plenty of twisted murders, but smoking was a new one.

The rather fascinating Jeff had sent over last night was rather thin compared to what they normally got, but it mentioned how 25 year old Maya Johnson was found inside a London smoker after being smoked to death for twelve hours before she was found.

That was just horrific as far as Kendra was concerned, and she was determined to do everything she possibly could to make sure the bastard was caught.

She had to do it for herself, the Task Force and most important Maya’s family and husband.

Morning hun, Patricia said as she sat down with a massive mug of coffee.

Kendra always loved how Patricia managed to look so stylish and elegant and rather young for a seventy-something-year old. Kendra really liked her white blouse, black trousers and a very nice pearl necklace.

It might have made Patricia look her age slightly compared to Kendra’s jeans, t-shirt and high-heels. But she loved Patricia and she was an amazing friend.

Morning ladies, Jeff said as he sat down opposite Kendra in the red booth.

Kendra was rather surprised by his bright red t-shirt, half-ripped trousers and nearly destroyed shoes.

That’s going to need an explanation, Kendra said smiling and pointing to the lower half of him.

Jeff just rolled his eyes. You would never believe it. I was walking through St James Park with two massive German Sausages for you both because my son went to Germany recently. And bought them for you,

    Kendra’s smile grew.

Then these massive Yorkshire Terriers start stalking me and their owners let them. Seconds later these massive dogs are barking and screaming at me,

Kendra didn’t have the heart to remind him how tiny Yorkshire Terriers are.

    "So I started running but
