Staring at a blank page,

Waiting for words to appear,

Wanting them to fill hearts and minds,

Expose blindspots,

Give hope to the have-nots,

Knock sense into the bumbaclots,

Give love where there is fear,

Be the shoulder for every tear,

And make you look forward to each day

As if it were a new year.

I want them to touch,

Where hands cannot feel,

Be that soul food,

Help you heal,

And be that dessert to your meal.
