TODAY’S LESSON
Imagine, someone you respect and trust, suddenly acting as a dictator, telling you what to do without considering your point of view. Instead of feeling empowered to achieve more, you lose interest in achieving the goal and resent the relationship. Conversely, a successful mentoring experience leads to a long-lasting productive relationship and personal growth.
Many mentor relationships occur naturally without the need for an established plan or process. If you are a parent or teacher, you are continuously mentoring children. When training new hires or teaching coworkers a new skill, you are acting as a mentor. Leaders are often seen as mentors by members of their team. Someone may ask you to become their mentor because you are well respected in your field. Whatever the situation, our goal is to provide guidance on how to be the best mentor in any situation.
Today’s lesson is designed with the mentor in mind; however, the tips and tools are also beneficial to mentees. Use the model as a guide
