About this ebook

#1 The most common frustration with prayer is the activity itself. We last only about fifteen seconds, and then our minds are off on a tangent. We catch ourselves and try to pray, but we can’t because our prayer antennae are badly damaged.

#2 We have a prayer list, but praying through the list gets tedious and nothing seems to happen. The list becomes long and cumbersome, and we lose touch with many of the needs.

#3 American culture is the hardest place in the world to pray. We are so busy that when we slow down to pray, we find it uncomfortable. We prize accomplishments, production, and intellect. We can do life without God, and praying seems unnecessary.

#4 Prayer is odd. We are talking to air when we pray, and we don’t know how or when a spirit will show up. Most Christians feel frustrated when it comes to prayer.

    #5

The doctrine of Sonship means that you have complete access to your heavenly Father through Jesus. You are a son or daughter of God because of the goodness of Jesus, not because of how good you are.

    #6

Prayer made a difference after all. When I prayed with my daughter, Father, help us find this contact, a missing lens was found.

    Insights from Chapter 2

    #1

Prayer is about relationship. It is intimate and hints at eternity. We don’t think about communication or words but about whom we are talking with. Prayer is simply the medium through which we experience and connect to God.

    #2

Prayer is a part of life, not something you do alone. It is a journey of a lifetime, and you never stop learning. Things such as growing up and learning to love take time and are filled with ups and downs.

    #3

When we put all these things together, we have a divine story. God is sovereign, loving, wise, and patient. We can’t have a good story without tension and conflict, and God is doing just that in our lives.

    #4

We are not paralyzed by life. We can hope. As we learn to pray
