- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Amazing book, I think many techniques should be used not only for medical treatment but psychological motivation.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5After living in Japan for a while, I finally gathered the courage to read about Ikigai. Initially, I avoided learning about it as I thought it might dampen my enthusiasm.
Have you ever heard of Ikigai? It's a Japanese concept that helps people stay motivated and inspired throughout their lives. This book delves into the idea of staying youthful while aging and focuses on both physical and mental well-being. Although the principles of Ikigai are theoretical, following them with discipline can lead to a fulfilling life where you achieve your goals while maintaining harmony.
This book covers a broad range of topics, including discovering your life's purpose, setting achievable goals, managing anxiety, and primarily, maintaining a healthy diet. It is well-crafted in a textbook-like manner, leaving little room for criticism. The only thing worth mentioning is the author's tendency to glorify Japan and its people. Overall, the book is of high quality and stays true to its intended purpose.
Can one practice the principles of the Ikigai concept without the pressure of perfection causing failure? It's crucial for the concept to become a natural habit, much like whispering in a library.
For the Japanese, this lifestyle is instilled from birth through their parents, teachers, and neighbors.
As someone new to the concept in their 30s, it may be difficult to adopt Ikigai as a habit unless there is a demanding need. However, as individuals reach their prime age, energy, and success, they may realize that their success is not helping their physical and mental health, leading them to follow these principles. For instance, a mandated diet may become necessary as someone reaches the needy age.
It is important to acknowledge the significance of having a purpose in life. The book's explanation of Ikigai's principles can serve as a source of motivation and influence positive transformations in one's life. It would be a loss to not take advantage of this opportunity to experience its benefits.1 person found this helpful
