    Here’s an introduction of who I am through the lens of coffee.

    When I was a teenager, I worked as a barista at Starbucks. I was so enthusiastic to try all the different drinks on the menu and craft my own drinks with low-calorie ingredients and healthier alternatives. Whenever someone asked for a recommendation, I was thrilled to tell them about my favorite drink. It was definitely a little nerdy of me to be so obsessed with coffee, when everyone else there just needed a paycheck. I may have been the only one of my coworkers who had read Onward by Howard Schultz, a book about the beginning of Starbucks.

    When I left the job, I attempted to recreate many Starbucks drinks at home, in a healthier way. I managed to make festive beverages from familiar ingredients using simple equipment. My husband doesn’t like coffee at all, and I’ve failed at my many schemes to trick him into drinking it. However, he does
