Medieval Astrology Group of South Dakota (a part of the Medieval Astrology Shoppe) Gary Warren Price, QHP Astrologer Gary’s path of self-realization began in 1986 with Astrology. He started with The Company of Astrologers in London and became Treasurer for the Lodge of London. After enrolling Olivia Barclay’s Qualified Horary Practitioner course and completing his training in the United Kingdom, he transitioned to Robert Zoller’s Medieval Astrology course, completing that course of study in 2000. In 2003 he completed Bernadette Brady’s Fixed Star Astrology Course. Gary graduated from the College of Herbal Medicine in Sussex, UK in 1991; in 2010 he graduated from the Complementary Health Care Centre, Bach Flower Remedy Course in Sussex. He is a former pharmacy technician with the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital in London. He worked as a librarian at the Urania Trust, also in London, and was the editor of the Astrology and Medicine Newsletter in the UK for 10 years, a publication which covered the works of Nicholas Culpepper. Gary is currently studying KP Astrology, a Vedic system originating in India, and Natal-Vedic Astrology. His recent studies include John Frawley’s Sports Astrology and Simon Chokoisky’s Gamblers Dharma. He also earned an MBA, BA Social Science degrees, and worked toward a Doctorate in Psychology, following the work of Dr. Carl Jung, but became dissatisfied with modern psychological teachings. He worked in the mental health field for about a decade. Gary taught at Oglala Lakota College Department of Business and at the Department of Psychology, Universidad Anahuac, in Puebla, Mexico. Gary lived in Asia for nearly two decades and speaks and reads Mandarin Chinese at a conversational level. He practices Ming Shu and Purple Star (Chinese) Astrology, and he was a personal astrologer to a UK business executive in Hong Kong for 20 years. Horary Astrology Horary comes Hora or hour, meaning the moment of the question. Not every question considered can be answered, but all questions from people are given serious consideration, have “strictures before judgement.” This means primarily, that the question should be described by the star, and planet positions that can be read. KP Astrology KP Astrology is a Vedic system from India of “Prashna,” or horary divination developed by Krishnamurti Padhatti, a highly advanced spiritual man who also lived in California and was part of the Theosophical Society with Helen Blavatsky of the Astrological Lodge of London. While these two groups are separate entities, they meet at the same London venue. The path of true astrology is a personal one and can only be realized from the observer’s point of view. This means the reading should describe the question, in short. Gary is available for readings and workshops by appointment only. Introduction

For those readers who are interested in Astrology, I dedicate this book. Obviously, if you were not interested in this topic, you would not have made it this far. To know how I got interested in Astrology, which refers to Medieval Western Astrology, Vedic, or Hindu Astrology, or even Chinese Astrology, which includes Ming Shu, Purple Star, and Four Pillar or ‘Ba Zi’ styles, the readers need to know a little about me and how I ventured down this path. I have tried all these systems, without complete mastery, as Astrology is a lifelong study, which is as deep as any ocean, and can never be fully mastered, with all its techniques and branches. Find a system that you enjoy and stick to that one. I hope the reader will find a path that they enjoy. I have enjoyed all three paths for the past 35 years, but none are so vivid and accurate than the Vedic astrology style.

Vedic Astrology is very complex and mysterious but need not be difficult. You will also need to understand your birth chart. Apart from Vedic Astrology, most of the books I have studied are for reference.

Everyone is different. I heard tales when I was young about how we can be anything we want to be. That is not quite true. If we are not destined to be a doctor, we will not be a doctor. Each of us has our own destiny. When politicians fail in winning elections, it is because they are not born good Yogas, including Raja Yoga or similar dignified themes within their natal birth chart. That fact makes them lucky. If they use their God given luck in this life for ill means, as most do, then the next life may not be so easy. For those who are charitable, honest, and kind, God blesses them in this life, and the next. Unfortunately, most of them are greedy, dishonest, and subject to the failings of human nature of wishing and grasping for more power, as if life was a permanent situation, instead of transitory from one life to the next.

You may be confused in the beginning with these Vedic terms such as Raja Yoga. They take some getting used to but are not difficult after you have practiced it for a while. The term is used in Jyotish (Vedic) Astrology. There are books that will define it. Though, if you see Jupiter and Venus in Libra in the ascendant, with at least one of them dignified, and one ruling something other than the 6th, 8th, or 12th house, then it will be obvious. However, if your birth chart is not meant for gambling and you cannot find profit within this realm, then find something else to do with astrology, or just find a hobby doing something which you enjoy. It is suggested, however, that astrology will tell you a lot about yourself; strengths and weaknesses will be revealed. Does this mean that one must have Raja Yoga to gamble? No. Not at all. I have an 8th house Venus, which often results in sudden gains from other’s money, including races, games, and lotto, but not always, so I tend to bet very little, or in moderation, even with a Raja Yoga.

If one knows their limitations, then one can still gamble and win as very few horoscopes I have seen are extremely horrific that it would prevent winning, though it is a matter of how much to bet, whether it be $1, $2, or $100.00?

Here are some guidelines you should use not only for yourself when betting, but your clients.

Do not bet during times of sunrise, sunset, sidereal solar ingresses, which is around the 15th of the month when it occurs, or where Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico, meet at a border, or street corner betting shops. Do not bet in moving vehicles, or airplanes. This also applies to other Vedic sciences. Do not take up this art or science for, or to give advice to non-believers who come to test or trick you (Chokoisky, page 19).

It is best to not take up betting if your 12th house ruler is ruler of the 1st house, while conjunct or lord of the 2nd or 7th house. If the aforesaid condition exists, or part of it and involves the 8th or 1st house lord, Ketu or the Moon, or the 1st house ruler is in 6th, 8th, or 12th (The 6th, 8th, and 12th are troublesome as it is part of past life karma, and moreover should not be revealed by you, as an astrologer, since it is their destiny to work these problems out). It was said to me that revealing these limitations could bring bad luck upon the reader, and the reader’s family. My ex-wife used to do these kinds of readings, and not only did she become schizophrenic, but my entire relationship with her became one bad luck scene after another, which made future relationships nearly impossible, since pessimism set in for any scenario that came along.

If a planet in the 6th, 8th, or 12th is with a malefic planet, [such as Mars or Saturn], -or if the 8th from Saturn is Leo (house of gambling) while the 2nd lord is in an enemy sign [A table of friendly and enemy signs is in the appendices], without an aspect from a benefic (such as Jupiter or Venus). If the ruler of the first house and the ruler of the first in the D9 Navamsa chart are in conjunction, or in aspect to the 2nd or 7th house ruler (called maraka), then gambling is also ill advised (Chokoisky, page 21). So, if you see these conditions in your own birth chart, this guide may still prove useful for advising others. You may consider taking a luckier person with you to the horse race, sort of like a good luck charm. Renaissance Astrology dot com makes wonderful Talismans, etc.
