I am KIANA LASHAYIA HAMILTON, I was born the oldest of five, and seven within a blended family. Which became the forefront to me working with children of all ages. I started writing poetry at the age of 13. From then on overtime I took various writing classes for fun where I learned to cultivate my craft. During my school years I worked in childcare centers, leading to my passion to heal and build families. My gifts of poetry and dance motivates me to uplift the spirits of those I encounter. With intentions to bring awareness to God, I use my words to inspire the hearts and minds to embrace positivity. Through my love of dance I desire to ignite the fire of those connected to the body of Christ. With everyday ahead I'm pressing towards change, and using art to express what is in my heart.

Psalms 112

Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.`

Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.

Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.

Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.

He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.

The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.

The best thing you can do for a person is to inspire them. That’s the best currency you can offer: inspiration. So, when a person can rely on you for that, that empowers them in every realm of their life.

Prologue

Hi, I’m Kiana.

When I started writing my book I had no idea how it would finish, let alone start. I wanted to release my poetry in a different form, that could make people feel like they knew me personally. So I figured I would give a little insight to who Kiana LaShayia is. I find it most amusing how you can share many experiences in life, yet we all find various ways to overcome our situations. Several individuals stay in the dwelling place of downs, versus the ups, in this journey we tread. As for me, I choose to share my poetic truths through this book.

We all find inspiration in someone or something, and like others around the world, I discovered my motivations in someones like TD Jakes, Maya Angelou, and Oprah. My something was the church, which leads to my love of dance and singing. Thank God, He created outlets of expression to fight depression.

As you will see beyond these pages, I am a person who has doubts, fears, and worries, but I also have faith, hope, and power! Through the journey of my twenties, I have acquired much wisdom on the topics of life, and I know it to be true. Therefore, I take it as my responsibility to encourage and enlighten my peers, of the next generation to strive for change openly, as we transpire through life. Moreover, in the process, avoid recurrences of disappointment, loss, loneliness, hardships, and unforgiveness. I do believe bad times are inevitable, negative energy serves every bit of purpose, like the good or positive. It’s not a fun lesson to learn, but it has its perks when you come out on the other side.

Patience has advanced, as a virtue of mine, with the addition of forgiveness.

These two words have become daily exercises for me, testing me regularly. I now see the world with new eyes. God has a fantastic way of changing your heart, and molding the mind. I have my opinions on the roads of those upon this earth, which could create a better place, for us all. That’s why I choose to share them with the world by writing them and displaying them.

I’ve learned the power of my words, and I have discovered how to speak life over death with my tongue. When I chose to write my first inspiration poem, I never knew the Lord was building me up in my low times to encourage others. One day I woke up and realized people connected to the currents of my words. My words and thoughts had inclined a well of life to strangers, family, and friends. It’s a humbling experience to be acknowledged beyond beauty, yet admired for my gifts, and a heart that truly yearns for my risen savior, Jesus.
