Anthony Trig - Jaymar Thomas
Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION TO ANTHONY TRIG
Anthony Trig was born on June eighth, nineteen ninety-nine. His mom’s name is Layla Trig, who was a college track and field athlete. And his dad’s name is Benjamin Trig, whose six-foot-six, and was a college basketball athlete.
Both Anthony and his father love the game of basketball. But his father trains him harder and smarter than how he trained when he was younger, therefore so Anthony can have a better chance at completing his big goal. Which is to become a professional basketball player.
Anthony went to Oakville Middle School, and when he was in the eighth grade, he was six-foot-two! He was the tallest student at the school, and he was even taller than the teachers.
He did really well in class, and was a monster on the court. His middle school coach, Coach Rollins, had him start in all games he played. Their team had won a state championship the previous year, and are on their way to getting another one.
Anthony’s writing teacher once said, whenever I give him any assignments or work, he tries his best. And that’s why he’s such a great student. He’s like the definition of determination, and what I guess some people call, a student athlete.
The first game for the team was against Pine Wood Middle School. They’re team is really good for passing, court vision, finishing, and deep range shots.
When it was halftime, Pine Wood was winning. The score was thirty-five-forty-three.
In the locker room, Coach Rollins said, we got to start getting open and making baskets. So here’s a play that you guys can probably run a few times.
While he drew the play on a board he said, "Jalen brings the ball down the court and passes it to Marcus. Marcus passes it back to Jalen, and then Jalen does a fake pass to Luther, and a fake lob pass to Anthony.
"Then, Jalen would drive in for a pull-up jumper. If you miss, Anthony, get the rebound and do a put back dunk or layup. But when Jalen is going for the pull up, Marcus will set him a screen.
And if he doesn’t have a good shot, Marcus will pop out to the three point line, but if nobody else has a better shot than Marcus, pass it to Marcus. And if Marcus still has a better shot than everyone else, shoot it. But if you have a good shot Jalen, shoot right away. Got it team?
The team nodded, although they were still processing all the information.
I said do you got it?!
Coach Rollins barked.
Yes sir!
The team yelled, startled by Coach Rollins’s tone.
Okay, Tigers on three! One, two, three—
Break!
The team exited the locker room chanting and motivated.
And at the beginning of the fourth quarter, the score was fifty-one-forty-eight.
Oakville Middle School was winning.
They tried the play Coach Rollins had said a few times, and it worked.
And although it was a really close game, Oakville didn’t give up.
In the fourth quarter, when it was the first play, Jalen saw Anthony run into the paint for a wide open alley-oop. Jalen tossed the ball to Anthony, and Anthony caught it in mid-air, and did a dunk with his right hand.
The ball went through the net quickly.
Which led to the ball slamming to the ground.
The crowd of Oakville students and parents screamed, yeah!
Anthony and his teammates celebrated for a moment, and then got ready for the next play.
Oakville Middle School won that game, sixty-nine-fifty-five.
Anthony was proud of how he played in that game.
But he was mostly proud of his teammates who helped him get a double-double. His teammates told him, congratulations,
and gave him a thumbs up and a high five.
When Anthony got home, his mom and dad had just gotten home from buying food. So he
