About this ebook

I look at the scriptures in a different light than many churches. Its name tells it all, for the four articles in this book are controversial to the mainstream church or the Jew, for I hold nothing back between what the scripture actually says, and that which is being taught. Why did God bring the Apostle Pa

    Controversial - Michael Helfrich

    PREAMBLE

The preamble to the controversy is to let any reader understand how these four articles came about. They were written at different times to convey what I have come to know as reformed theology. When I first became a Christian I was given a C.I. Scofield reference bible with all his footnotes by my pastor, which I took as scriptural. I was introduced to other books by writers calming they knew when God would return and set up His kingdom. I accepted what they were teaching because my pastor was teaching the same thing. Over time and reading my bible, I come to have a difference of opinion but did not know what the problem was. At this time I was introduced to a man who was having the same issues as I was having and we became very good friends with many discussions on the difference of what, thus saith the Lord, with what we were taught over several years. My friend (Gene Ross) had been to Baptist Bible College and he knew more of scripture than I did with his knowledge of syntax, Greek, and some Hebrew language.

As time went on in our many discussions and debates we saw the error of these writers and their books of eschatology. The problems we saw were called dispensationalism and we learned to think outside the box of dispensationalism from a reformed point of view. We found several books by writers who have seen the same things as we had but, much earlier on, for this view of scripture was not new at all, but was taught for many contraries and that Dispensationalism was the new view. We had heard from pastors who have said that Jesus did not know what He was talking about. In just this one statement alone, showed us that these men were heretical and their teaching was as well, for we read that the scriptures cannot be broken from Christs own words.

Controversy is here for all readers accepting the dispensational point of view to let them know that there is another way of looking at it: Thus, saith the Lord. God is omniscience (all-knowing) and that He is not a man that He should lie. Since He is God and that this is His creation, He has full authority to rule over it as He sees fit, and all others be damned who teach otherwise. God is a loving God, but He is also a just God, full of righteousness, and all men (generic for mankind) are destined for the lake of fire except for His grace on those whom He calls out of their depraved lost state of unrighteousness. God is not caught off guard, for He has established it from the foundation of the world that which He has preordained to be, will be, for He is omnipotent as well, and is able to perform that which He has declared. He sees the past, present, and future view of human history at any given moment of time, for He is God.

Don’t take my word for it, but go read it for yourself, not from a preconceived dispensationalist point of view or mine, but study as did the Bereans to see if these things are not so: line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little. Think outside the dispensationalism box and in the box known as the Holy Scripture and you will do well.

    PREAMBLE

Words mean things, and groups of words convey thoughts and build doctrines, and when God spoke through His Prophets, you had better take notice, for He had spoken to get our attention and give you understanding. God is all-powerful (omnipotent) and is everywhere (omnipresent) and He is all-knowing (omniscient) and what He says, He is able to perform, for He has spoken out against adulteress Israel and has given a writ of divorce, and now is bringing a Covenant lawsuit against her for violating God’s commands to keep His laws, His statutes, and His commandments, thus, He has taken away His blessing from Israel, and is now bringing the curse on them.

This is a Covenant Lawsuit against the National State of Israel for breaking the Covenant which God created for them to follow, through their Headship, Moses. After Moses came down from the mountain with the laws, statutes, and commandments, all of Israel came forth with the statement that all that God had spoken, we will do. (Exod. 19:8, 24:3)

God has made several Covenants in scripture, such as Noah’s Covenant (Noachian), Abrahamic and the Mosaic, also known as the Sinitic Covenant. God’s Covenant with Israel was a Covenant of works and faith, however, Israel had no faith and only made it a Covenant of works, for works without faith is dead or faith without works is dead, for it takes both faith and works to please God. In this Covenant, God became a husband to them, and they became as a wife to Him.

When God gave Moses His laws, statutes and commandments He told Israel that if they kept them, He would bless them, however, if they did not keep them, He would curse them. In Leviticus 26:1-13 God tells them where His blessings lie, while in verses 14-46 He shares His cursing if they did not keep His Covenant. In Deuteronomy 28: 1-14 God speaks of the blessings if they kept His laws, while in verses 15-68, or 80%, God speaks of the cursing that would befall them if they did not keep His laws.

Here is where the Covenant lawsuit comes in, for Israel did not keep their word to God which they gave Him through Moses. But first, before going into the Covenant lawsuit, we must set the stage on some of God’s laws which they broke, not once, not twice, but continually throughout their history.

    Penalty for broken laws:

We will be looking at three basic laws that Israel has broken, which are adultery, idolatry, and murder, but first, we will look at the requirements in capital cases. Listed below are what are known as capital cases, for God requires the death penalty for those who break them.

Gen. 9:6 Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man.

Exod. 21:12 He who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death.

Lev 24:17 If a man takes the life of any human being, he shall surely be put to death.

Lev. 20:10 If there is a man who commits adultery with another man’s wife, one who commits adultery with his friend’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

Lev 20:12 If there is a man who lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death; they have committed incest, their blood guiltiness is upon them.

Lev 20:13 If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their blood guiltiness is upon them.

Deut. 22:22 If a man is found lying with a married woman, then both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman; thus you shall purge the evil from Israel.

Below is a list of scripture that teaches us that the death penalty is only by the mouth of two or more witnesses, for no one can be put to death from the testimony of one witness. This applies to all capital cases.

Numb. 35:30 If anyone kills a person, the murderer shall be put to death at the evidence of witnesses, but no person shall be put to death on the testimony of one witness.

Deut. 17:6 On the evidence of two witnesses or three witnesses, he who is to die shall be put to death; he shall not be put to death on the evidence of one witness.

Deut. 19:15A single witness shall not rise up against a man on account of any iniquity or any sin which he has committed; on the evidence of two or three witnesses a matter shall be confirmed.

God requires that on the witness of two or more witnesses that capital punishment must be brought to fruition, for He tells us to purge the evil from among us. Deuteronomy 22:21, 24, 24:7.

    More Scripture on Adultery:

The church has these last one hundred years have gotten away from sound doctrine, for divorce is not having an affair, and there are no consequences for committing such acts. There are no-fault divorces and people are getting married many times over, and their word means nothing, for Jesus says, Let your yes be yes and your no, no.

Mat 5:37 "But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’; anything beyond these is of evil.

Where is true love today? Is there such a thing? The problem is, that no one sees the consequences of their actions, for, do they not know, that a divorce, does not nullify a marriage Covenant? In the following verses, you will see that the only nullification of a marriage is death, and if you get married and divorce and remarriage to another you will be called an adulterer/adulteress! It is the only death from one divorced spouse that frees the other of committing adultery and able to remarry!

Mat. 5:31-32 "It was said, ‘WHOEVER SENDS HIS WIFE AWAY, LET HIM GIVE HER A CERTIFICATE OF DIVORCE’; but I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for the reason of unchastity, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

Rom 7:1-3 Or do you not know, brethren (for I am speaking to those who know the law), that the law has jurisdiction over a person as long as he lives? For the married woman is bound by law to her husband while he is living; but if her husband dies, she is released from the law concerning the husband. So then, if while her husband is living she is joined to another man, she shall be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is not an adulteress though she is joined to another man.

There are many things that pollute the land, and one such thing is remarrying a former wife that has been married to another man and in her second divorce.

Deut. 24:1-4 When a man takes a wife and marries her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some indecency in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out from his house, and she leaves his house and goes and becomes another man’s wife, and if the latter husband turns against her and writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, or if the latter husband dies who took her to be his wife, then her former husband who sent her away is not allowed to take her again to be his wife, since she has been defiled; for that is an abomination before the LORD, and you shall not bring sin on the land which the LORD your God gives you as an inheritance.

    How Israel disobeyed God: Idolatry

Israel went whoring after other gods (idolatry) and polluted the land of Israel, for they have violated the Covenant that they said they would keep. In violating their Covenant, they brought down the curse of God on the land.

2nd Kings 17:7-16 Now this came about because the sons of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, who had brought them up from the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and they had feared other gods and walked in the customs of the nations whom the LORD had driven out before the sons of Israel, and in the customs of the kings of Israel which they had introduced. The sons of Israel did things secretly which were not right against the LORD their God. Moreover, they built for themselves high places in all their towns, from watchtower to fortified city. They set for themselves sacred pillars and Asherim on every high hill and under every green tree, and there they burned incense on all the high places as the nations did which the LORD had carried away to exile before them; and they did evil things provoking the LORD.

They served idols, concerning which the LORD had said to them, You shall not do this thing. Yet the LORD warned Israel and Judah through all His prophets and every seer, saying, Turn from your evil ways and keep My commandments, My statutes according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you through My servants the prophets. However, they did not listen, but stiffened their neck like their fathers, who did not believe in the LORD their God. They rejected His statutes and His Covenant which He made with their fathers and His warnings with which He warned them. And they followed vanity and became vain, and went after the nations which surrounded them, concerning which the LORD had commanded them not to do like them. They forsook all the commandments of the LORD their God and made for themselves molten images, even two calves, and made an Asherah and worshiped all the host of heaven and served Baal."

    How Israel disobeyed God: Murder

Many of God’s prophets, apostles, and even God’s Son Jesus Christ were murdered at the hands of Israel. Isaiah was sawed in two, others were stoned or beaten to death while Jesus was crucified on a cross. John the Baptist was beheaded as was the Apostle Paul. Stephen was stoned to death while Peter was crucified upside down. The list is many, however, it was the murder of God’s Son that set their fate in their demise in the Covenant lawsuit.

    God, the Husband:

God’s ways are above our ways, and His thoughts are above our thoughts. In scripture, there are many figures of speech which we use without realizing it, such as idioms, analogies, proverbs, and even hidden mysteries. One such scripture is The Lamb of God. I bring this up because God uses the expression of being a husband to his wife Israel. This is out of the norm for us, being human, to have the understanding that marriage is between one man and one woman and is in a physical sense. However, God is spiritual and He deals with Israel in a spiritual and physical sense.

However, God sees Himself as a Husband to Israel because of Headship and Creator, for God is over Christ and Christ is over the man, and the man is over the woman. In this relationship, God sees Himself as a Husband to Israel His wife and would take care of her in every respect as her husband if they would only be faithful to Him and keep His laws, statutes, and commandments, which they failed to do.

In the next two verses, you will see that God calls Himself a husband to His people Israel.

Isa. 54:5 For your Maker is your husband, The LORD of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth.

Jer. 31:32 Not according to the Covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My Covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD.

Israel violating their Covenant with God:

In the next 14 verses, you can see the outcry of God against Israel for their adultery, murder, and unfaithfulness. Their scourge is second to none, for they are God’s people, and yet they refused to follow Him as they confirmed His Covenant with them in the days of Moses.

Hos. 4:1b-14 "For there is neither faithfulness nor loyalty in the land, nor do they acknowledge God. There is only cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and adultery. They resort to violence and bloodshed. Therefore the land will mourn, and all its inhabitants will perish. The wild animals, the birds of the sky, and even the fish in the sea will perish. Do not let anyone accuse or contend against anyone else: for my case is against you priests! You stumble day and night, and the false prophets stumble with you; You have destroyed your own people! (False teachers)

You have destroyed my people by failing to acknowledge me! Because you refuse to acknowledge me, I will reject you as my priests. Because you reject the law of your God, I will reject your descendants. The more the priests increased in numbers, the more they rebelled against me. They have turned their glorious calling into a shameful disgrace! They feed on the sin offerings of my people; their appetites long for their iniquity!

I will deal with the people and priests together: I will punish them both for their ways, and I will repay them for their deeds. They will eat, but not be satisfied; they will engage in prostitution, but not increase in numbers; because they have abandoned the LORD by pursuing other gods. Old and new wine take away the understanding of my people. They consult their wooden idols, and their diviner’s staff answers with an oracle. The wind of prostitution blows them astray; they commit spiritual adultery against their God. They sacrifice on the mountaintops, and burn offerings on the hills; they sacrifice under oak, poplar, and terebinth, because their shade is so pleasant. As a result, your daughters have become cult prostitutes, and your daughters-in-law commit adultery! I will not punish your daughters when they commit prostitution, nor your daughters-in-law when they commit adultery. For the men to consort with harlots, they sacrifice with temple prostitutes. It is true: A people that lacks understanding will come to ruin!

    Writ of Divorce:

Because of Israel’s adultery, idolatry, corruption, and unfaithfulness towards God, He writes a writ of divorce as Israel’s husband and will bring an end to His relationship with them.

Jer. 7:23-24 But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you will walk in all the way which I command you, that it may be well with you.’ Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but walked in their own counsels and in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward and not forward.

Jer. 3:7-9 I thought, ‘After she has done all these things she will return to Me; but she did not return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it. And I saw that for all the adulteries of faithless Israel, I had sent her away and given her a writ of divorce, yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear; but she went and was a harlot also. Because of the lightness of her harlotry, she polluted the land and committed adultery with stones and trees.

This writ of divorce was prophesied and fulfilled in Jeremiah, sometime between 627-580BC. Exactly when God gave or how He gave the divorce decree is not known by this student of God’s word, however, the writ or certificate of divorce was given sometime before some of the Minor Prophets prophesied the Covenant lawsuit against national Israel. The Covenant lawsuit is directly connected to the writ of divorce, for the Covenant lawsuit is against national Israel for their going after foreign gods and the commitment of torture and murder of God’s prophets, including Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

    The Minor Prophets

The Minor Prophets reigned from 840 to 425BC and had much to say about the coming of the Lord against Israel. There are 12 Minor Prophets and some connect all twelve as one, but, whatever the case, the information they speak, gives credence to the fact that God is going to destroy the nation of Israel. Each Minor Prophet has a name which God has chosen to represent Him in moving forward in the curse which is about to overtake Israel. The first Minor Prophet is Hosea and the last Minor Prophet is Malachi as laid out in the Old Testament.

    Hosea: Salvation

    Joel: Jehovah is God

    Amos: Burden

    Obadiah: Servant of Jehovah

    Jonah: Dove

    Micah: Who is like God

    Nahum: Comfort

    Habakkuk: Embrace

    Zephaniah: Jehovah has treasured

    Haggai: Festive

    Zechariah: Jehovah remembers

    Malachi: My Messenger

Each of these Minor Prophets’ names reflects how God deals with Israel in their writings under the Old Testament. After Malachi was written between 432-425, God was silent for the next 400 years during the time of the Maccabees. The Protestant bible does not contain the Maccabees nor some 6 other books of the Catholic bible because the Nicene Counsel of 325AD did not accept them as the word of God because of the errors found in them which conflicted with the written Word already accepted in the Hebrew bible. These seven other books can be a source of information in studying human history, but not as the word of God.

    The Last Old Testament Prophet:

Malachi was the last Old Testament prophet that prophesied under the Old Covenant. It was prophesied that there would be another Prophet before that great and terrible Day of the Lord; Elijah. The second coming of Elijah was the starting line of several events, such as the coming of Jesus Christ, the Son of God which taketh away the sins of the world, and the great and terrible Day of the Lord. His message was to Israel and to turn the hearts of fathers to the children and the children’s hearts to their fathers.

Mal. 4:5-6 Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the LORD. And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

In Malachi, the last statement is that if Elijah did not turn the hearts of the fathers and children, God would smite the earth with a curse; the great and terrible Day of the Lord. John the Baptist who is the embodiment of Elijah, (not the literal Elijah physically) but in the power of Elijah did not turn the hearts, thus, we see the great and terrible Day of the Lord coming upon Israel.

Under the Old Covenant, Elijah went after Baal and his prophets (450) and (400) prophets of Asherah to show the power of His God, and he (Elijah) called down from heaven which consumed all the false prophets. These false prophets of Baal and Asherah were completely destroyed, showing the support and power in which God intervened in the life of Elijah.

1st Kings 18:17-24 When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, Is this you, you troubler of Israel? He said, I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father’s house have because you have forsaken the commandments of the LORD and you have followed the Baals. Now then send and gather to me all Israel at Mount Carmel, together with 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table. So Ahab sent a message among all the sons of Israel and brought the prophets together at Mount Carmel. Elijah came near to all the people and said, How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him. But the people did not answer him a word. Then Elijah said to the people, I alone am left a prophet of the LORD, but Baal’s prophets are 450 men. Now let them give us two oxen; and let
