Prologue
"R
aising a child in today’s age for a working parent is challenging. I’ve always marveled at the way Khushi has nurtured her 2 kids to always be happy, healthy and emotionally resistant. As, I got to know her better, it became clear to me that she has an easy to follow step-by-step system to help parents do the same.
As a parent of an active 9 year old boy, I have been able to apply her practical and simple approach to effective parenting. It has helped me navigate the challenges that face today’s parents. Times are changing fast. Kids are very exposed to so much through the internet. We need timeless principles adapted to our modern day context. I believe Khushi’s book with real life examples and stories will help you be a more effective parent so you can raise happy children and enjoy the journey.
Congratulations Khushi!"

Introduction
When my kids were toddlers I used to spend a lot of time with them. After their bath while dressing them up, I used to narrate them loads of interesting stories. They simply loved listening to them as they learnt a lot of moral values as well.
One day as usual after they dressed up my children insisted that they wanted to hear a new story. I made them sit comfortably on the bed, cuddled them and started narrating this story, Long time age, there was a small cute girl who lived with her parents. She was very shy, docile, naïve and very rarely spoke to people around her. She used to think what if someone makes fun of me or someone laughs at me. She also had very few friends. As she grew older she dreamed of becoming an Entrepreneur. Somehow she was hesitant to tell her parents. One day she got the courage and she told her mother about her feelings. Her mom and dad very extremely happy that she shared her thoughts and promised to support her forever.
After I shared this story I asked my children to tell me what did you learn from it, what is the moral of the story. They thought for a couple of seconds and replied, Mumma we should share feelings and be courageous.
I smiled at both of them, gave them a kiss on their cheek and they happily ran away to play.
Do you know who was the little girl of that story? It was ME.
Our life is full of stories which we can share with children for them to learn important life lessons.
There is a famous quote by Muriel Rukeyser, ‘The universe is made up of stories, not atoms.’ I strongly believe in this.

What is parenting?
P
arenting is an experience. Parenting is sharing our past experiences in the form of stories with kids in a way where they learn many important lessons which are useful for life.
A parent sees the growth of a child who blossoms from a bud to a beautiful flower. Children need to be nurtured with unlimited love and affection. However, one has to have patience when you are a parent. I have come across many parents who are unable to match up the pace with today’s young generation. They also lack awareness about channelizing their child’s energy in the
