Video marketing has become the killer app as a result of four major changes. It has always been the once and future king of marketing, but it is likely to reclaim its throne as a result of the rise of high-speed yet low-cost wireless data transmission. You can watch videos on your mobile phone without having to wait an eternity for the video to fully download.
We also have standardized high-quality decoding and coding technology. In other words, no matter what device you're watching a video on or which website you're visiting, the images will be crisp and the sounds will be crystal clear.
Another recent technological breakthrough concerns the cost of storage. You must understand that the video you are watching must be saved somewhere. It must be stored on a series of hard drives. That isn't free. Storage costs have plummeted as a result of advances in technology. Furthermore, the service that people provide to host websites has become increasingly affordable.
With this combination, video marketing has come to its home. It's finally here, but here's the catch. It's rather ironic. Today's challenge for video marketers is that video may have become a victim of its own success. The issue now is that there is so much video available that most of it simply does not have an impact.
