    JESUS, I LOVE YOU

I am a living testimony, dear reader, that Jesus is everything in me. Why do I boldly say that? Let me explain. For many years, I have been a single woman, yet now, at the age of forty-seven, I dare to say that the Lord is the lover of my soul. He became my other half, what others may call husband. Does this mean I have no desire to marry? The answer is simple: no! I knew many men when I was younger, but deep inside, I felt something was missing, which made me search for more profound, more meaningful things in life. Life was a mystery because I did not know the purpose of being born into this world. At night in my bed, I asked the question, Where did all the dead people go? I had seen many deaths in my early teenage journey. Would my God talk to me? Was God responsible for my life and death? Life was so unfair because my loved ones would die someday. I dearly loved my parents very much.

I saw the sacrifice of my mother waking up early to make breakfast and getting her children ready for school. My dad ensured his kids were safe on the school bus, and he would prepare to go to work after that. Why all this sacrifice of love, when they would die and leave their kids behind? In my teenage years, I was an insecure child. Whenever I went to bed at the time, I felt depressed inside. There were many nights my pillow was wet with tears, as I thought about how unfair life was. Each time I played with my siblings, I realized that one day I would not play with them anymore. It seemed everything was just temporary.

In my early teenage years, I was seriously looking for the meaning of life. I used to see my dad praying every evening. We were Hindu; we had an altar with gods and goddesses that we prayed to. I followed my dad, praying daily, kneeling at the altar, and making a big prayer. I asked God to talk to me and to show me His real face. Our Hindu altar has many goddesses’ picture and a few statues. Daily I prayed the same thing. My dad also taught us how to pray,
