Defining Love

Everyone searches for Love. In its many forms it can bring happiness, contentment and peace. In these poems I’ve tried to define different kinds of love. One single idea of love is far too much of a generalization. There’s passionate love that drives the need to procreate, there’s the tender and constant love of family, also the love of pets and how we weep for them when they’re no longer with us. There’s the love of all things in Nature. Whatever kind of love we choose, it always comes from the heart. Ultimately, there’s the love radiating from the wondrous Universe which permeates our bones, sinews and every atom of our being. We are all made of the same stuff, this Stardust – this Divine Light.

MOON-BATHING

The sound of the ocean - pushing and pulling

breathing in and breathing out.

Gentle waves dazzling in the moon’s suffusion -

gliding over the oozing wet sand -

silver ripples rising and falling back.

Under the hypnotic moon time ceases

fear - pain - disease - and death fade away.

Nowhere to be except here - in the moment -

true feelings - not dreaming of things to come -

memories dissolved in the salt-air.

Right now bathing under the moon -

a pure acceptance in the healing light.

I am momentarily held in its radiance -

arriving and departing -

the ocean and the moon in eternal harmony.

BE LIFE

Life can be hard - it can be complicated -

it can be heart-breaking - or misunderstood.

If you see only thorns - look deeper into the shadows - be brave - be determined to find the Roses - fragrant and sweet - always reaching for the light.

Be guided to the present moment - don’t look back - there is a garden filled with brightness - friendship - a refuge from the storm - such peace - such love - you hid from - find it again - calling you back.

INFINITE LOVE

Cosmic love - made in a lifeless vacuum -

exploding out into brilliant galaxies -

creation - a Universe born in its essence.

It is pure dazzling energy - a vibration -

a frequency between heaven and earth.

It is water teaming from a rock -

sparkling in sunlit crystal pools -

overflowing - rushing towards the ocean -

joining the oncoming waves - released -

beginning a cyclic motion of continuity.

RELEASE

Let go of bad memories - forgive those who caused you pain - release the burden of yesterday - don’t carry a heavy millstone - its taking up a space that should be filled with peace and joy.

HEART LOVE

Heart Love is the anticipation of a first kiss - softly - breathing intensified - together in the heat.

It sets you free - freedom to become more
