    The Purpose Driven Life is a guide to spiritual development according to evangelical Christian values and teachings. The Bible instructs Christians to think of the world as a temporary situation and prepare for eternal life in heaven. Humanity was made in God’s image to share his love.

    There are five purposes for life, which begin with fulfilling God’s pleasure. Every person is planned for the pleasure of God, so doing what humans were designed to do and performing these acts as worship fulfills God’s pleasure.

    The second purpose is to be a member of God’s family. Christians are meant to form communities, particularly small fellowships within their churches.

    The third purpose is to become as similar to Jesus Christ as possible. God sends struggles to people to teach them the lessons required to fulfill their purposes. Fulfilling the third purpose also requires adherence to the biblical word.

    The fourth purpose is service. How people serve is determined by their spiritual gifts, passions, abilities, personality, and experiences.
