The Compound Effect - IRB Media

    OVERVIEW

The Compound Effect: Jumpstart Your Income, Your Life, Your Success is a self-help book by the publisher of SUCCESS magazine, Darren Hardy. It describes how small attitude and behavior adjustments, when applied with consistency, can result in significant life changes.

When a minor change is practiced over a long period of time momentum can keep it going until the change becomes a habit. This is the Compound Effect. A minor change can be something as simple as cutting junk food out of the diet or spending less time watching television and more time on a creative hobby. When this minor change is implemented and practiced long enough it becomes a habit.

Deciding what to change involves reviewing habits and decisions that dictate behavior. Negative habits can be changed by consciously tracking them and replacing them with positive habits. A person can also change negative thinking and worry with positivity and accountability cultivated through motivational media or conversations with a dedicated accountability partner.

Generating the necessary momentum to create lasting change through minor adjustments requires deep seated motivation, the establishment of positive daily, weekly, and monthly routines, tracking compliance with those routines, and being willing to push beyond what is normal or expected.
