About this ebook
This book is for you if you have had your career affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The secrets revealed in this book series are not some magic formulae that will help you find a job only when there has been a pandemic or some other major worldwide disaster.
These secrets will help you find a job at any time. But when anything occurs that results in lots of job losses and not a lot of jobs in the career field that you have experience or qualifications in, then finding a job becomes much harder.
These secrets will help you find a job when times are tough. They help you understand how you can go the extra mile in terms of your job search. By doing more than your competitors do to find a job, you can put yourself in the best possible position, with the greatest opportunities to find and get a job ahead of them.
Why might you need to go 'the extra mile' in your job search because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic?
There are lots of reasons, but for employers in many career fields, they all come down to one thing, uncertainty!
Many factors are occurring that are affecting almost all businesses. These effects create uncertainty about the future for employers. When they are uncertain about the future of their business, they are less likely to take on new staff.
In most industries, there are far fewer job opportunities than in the past. When you apply for a job, there is likely to be far more competition.
If you sit at home waiting for a new job to magically appear, you will be out of work for a long time. If you solely rely on finding job vacancies through the major job advertising websites, you will find hundreds of others applying for the same job. You may well experience lots of rejection letters, and that is not good for your motivation and personal wellbeing.
You need to adapt to what is happening in the job market NOW!
But it is not all doom and gloom. Some industries have job vacancies because they are going through a growth stage, because there is a shortage of skilled employees, or because the jobs have been filled in the past by temporary migrants from overseas who cannot now currently travel.
This book series will provide you with key secrets on how you can put yourself ahead of the competition in your job search.
In Book 1 you will learn: -
- Even when jobs may be scarce, trying to apply for anything and everything just won't work. Even if you do get a job, you may find that you absolutely hate it. If you have lost your job or look like you might be about to lose your job, take the time to work out exactly what sort of job you really want to do. You could try to get any job in the short term if money is crucial. But thinking longer-term, was the job you previously did really satisfying? If not, then what is the right career for you? If you did love your job, what other careers are out there that require similar skills?
- What are your skills? What jobs require those skills? What new skills do you need to gain? This secret reveals how to gain an understanding of your skills and what employers are seeking now that they have gone through a Pandemic.
- You will learn how to go about preparing a CV/Resume that will get you in front of employers for an interview. And as a bonus, you will also learn how to prepare a Cover Letter that will get your CV read.

About the Author
Mark Jory became a Career Practitioner who has been on his career journey.
From High School, he worked seven years as a Customs Officer then took voluntary redundancy and began working as a Branch Manager in a sea freight forwarding business, which morphed into a sales Manager role with the courier side of the business.
He arrived at work one day to be told his position was now redundant and to clean out his desk. Just one week later, he began an Assistant Manager role in a retail store. He also worked one night a week as a Kitchen hand for over a year during this time.
After three and a half years in the retail job, he found he was becoming more and more dissatisfied with the work and the employer. He then took up an opportunity to become a self-employed Life Insurance Agent.
He continued in this career for 19 years, gaining no outstanding success financially, but gaining both educational and industry qualifications as a Chartered Life Underwriter, Certified Financial Planner, and an Authorized Financial Adviser.
He also completed a Graduate Diploma of Business (Personal Financial Planning) via distance learning from Massey University.
In 2005 he got involved briefly with a woman who blackmailed him. Threats he felt would end his marriage. The blackmail demands for money continued for over nine years, ultimately leading to Mark running out of all his family savings and maxing out all his lines of credit.
In desperation to keep his marriage, he committed fraud and forgery through his business to keep meeting his Blackmailers’ ongoing demands for money. This was eventually discovered and led to him closing his business and repaying most of his debts to the insurance companies from the sale of his business.
He admitted his fraud to the Police and made a blackmail complaint. He gained two sales roles over the next 15 months before Police finally charged him. Six months later, he was in court to plead guilty and was remanded in custody, later being sentenced to two years and three months. He served almost 10 months in prison, followed by 17 months on parole.
While in prison, he worked in the prison kitchen, gaining several NZQA unit standards, and completed two health papers through the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand via distance learning.
When he was released from prison, he had lost his marriage, his relationship with his adult children, his home, all his
