    INTRODUCTION

Eating disorders are conditions in which you have an extreme craving for food or no interest in food. Eating disorders shouldn't be taken lightly as they can affect your physical and emotional well-being.

Eating disorder isn't just about eating and drinking as most people think. You must understand that these states include the emotions, feelings, and lack of self-control in these individuals.

Eating disorders are about feelings and emotions. For these individuals, food addiction helps them respond to their inner feelings. This response allows them to avoid, delay, forget, deny or alleviate their painful feelings.

Keeping a safe distance from other individuals reduces the risks of others discovering their true selves and harming them.

In the end, nothing more than an eating disorder can satisfy you. When many of them are asked to describe their lives, they say it looks like they are always sitting on a crazy swing. They either have high levels of anorexia when they don't eat or high levels of bulimia when they eat and throw up.

Their emotions are distorted by their behavior and at the same time, they are out of control because of their emotions and bad feelings.

These vibrant emotions are called brain loops which occur when people's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are linked and they are in a loop that spins around until there seems to be no way out.

Breaking this cycle can take a long time as individuals have to learn to feel good and learn other ways, not just using food as a switch for their runaway emotions. Fortunately, with the right methods, it is now possible.

    Who does eating disorders affect?

Eating disorders cut across all age groups. Statistics show that 10% of all eating disorders occur in young children aged 10 years or younger, 33% of cases reported between 11 and 15 years old, 43% between 16 and 20 years old, and 86% of cases in people between 20 and 20 years older.

Anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder affect more young women, although older women and men can also be affected by these conditions. Studies show that women become more aware of their figure than men. Athletes and students often suffer from eating disorders, mainly because they are under social pressure to be thin. Athletes who participate in sports such as gymnastics, figure skating, dancing, and synchronized swimming are more likely to develop an eating disorder.

Eating disorders can be fatal. They can lead to life-threatening medical complications, including serious heart disease (hypotension, slow heart rate, palpitations, and heart failure) and kidney failure, which can eventually lead to death. Knowing about the disease and its causes can save us from these threatening complications.

    CHAPTER ONE

    WHAT EATING DISORDERS ARE

Eating disorders are disorders of self-control. People (especially people with anorexia) start to believe that there is nothing in their life to control except their food intake and their weight. They find that controlling their diet and weight allows them to balance their lives out of control. They see their weight loss as an impressive achievement, a sign of exceptional self-discipline, while weight gain is seen as an unacceptable failure of self-control.

Sufferers often want to be something they are not, so they try to make up for this loss due to their eating disorder. They believe that as humans they are more powerful when they can control their weight and diet.

It takes a long time to work with this weird state of mind to finally make them realize that being in control of their life has nothing to do with losing or gaining weight.

People are not born with the right behavior; this is something that must be
