    Hello readers!

We at Haney Hayes Promotions wanting to build ties within the Author Community have reached out and found some wonderful creatives that have donated time and their kitchens to us. We accepted creatives who had groups and mailing lists they would love to see grow with the creation of this magnet to promote subscriber list building.

We wanted to create a bi-seasonal almanac for readers, full of recipes, crafts, and/or activities, from our homes, families, and friends (not another cookbook!) to share.

There will be two per year. This is our first Fall/Winter Edition.

We asked that each book world creative provide at least one recipe, or activity, but no more than four per edition, to keep it from becoming too huge... yet.

Since we are creatives and not chefs, we asked for the submission to come with a short (300-word max) story, anecdote, or memory from the author’s life telling readers why the recipe, craft, and/or activity is near and dear to their heart.

So, what are you doing with all those apples from the yard? These needed not be Holiday specific as we are fully inclusive and know we do not all share the same backgrounds. We want to know and share new things from everyone, everywhere!

From our table to yours, check out our first Author’s Community Almanac!

    Thank you,

Haney Hayes Promotions & The Authors Community

    Carmel Short Bread

For these special Caramel Shortbreads, you will need silicone ice cube trays of your themed choice. Unlike usual Caramel Shortbread recipes, you'll need to make these ones in reverse, so your chocolate layer molds against the detailed side!

For as long as I can remember, I have always loved to bake. My day job is as a Cookery teacher in a junior school, so naturally when I had children-baking became an instrumental part of lives.

Each year, we follow the Great British Bake-Off themes by making a sweet or savory treat in line with the weekly shows. It’s a huge time of excitement for us every autumn, with official launch and final parties thrown for our friends and family! These Lego Caramel Shortbreads were from last year's (you guessed it) caramel week. We’ve made everything from cranberry and bacon wreaths, camembert cob loaves and a whole range of biscuit cheesecakes including custard creams and Oreos. Pure heaven!

Not only does our love for baking together provide family time we might otherwise miss, I'm a strong believer that making our favorite treats provides so many learning opportunities! My son, for example, has always struggled to keep up with his peers developmentally. But that boy can make you a cinnamon bun with his eyes closed (I jest, although that would be a talent!) My daughter now has dreams of becoming a chef and I’m more than happy to be her taste tester!
