Dear Reader,
In this poetry collection, I bare my soul to you. It’s a dark place still, but by writing about my experiences with mental health issues and grief, I’m trying to let more light in.
Writing had always been a part of my life but lay dormant for the past decade. I rediscovered my passion for writing in April 2020 in the early days of the pandemic. I started to look back at how I became the person I am today which laid the foundation for this book.
I hope to be a voice for those who feel similarly to me and to end the stigma surrounding mental health problems. If this inspires only one person to seek help and/or to talk openly about their experiences, then I consider the publication of this poetry collection a success.
Thank you for your support,
I am more than my pain
But I am mostly my pain
It doesn’t define me – yet
It taints everything I do
My naïve brain was built
From trauma I endured
It’s so much work to rewire
When serotonin’s hard to come by
I am made of memories
I buried within my soul
But they’re ready to attack
Flashing before my eyes
I dug my rabbit hole
And down I go, endlessly
Spiralling out of control
Farther away from reality
