About this ebook

My eBook, I will be back, is my second eBook. It is about a young girl who is dying of cancer. Her name is Jenny, and she is, however, not afraid at all. She believes in reincarnation and is looking forward to a new, cancer free life. The heavens on the other hand, have different plans for her. The little girl comes several times back to earth alright but as a little hummingbird to safe a charm of hummingbirds in the colds of Canada. As a tiny orange frog, to help her species to escape distinction. She thinks like humans, understands their language and, of course, she understands and speaks the frog language as well. With enormous courage and, lots of funny situations, she guides a large group of small orange frogs through the dangers of the Brazilian jungle and the threats of the city. Finally, this determined army of frogs reaches safety. Now, as a salmon, she has to lead a school of wild salmons to fulfill their life circle and as a little bunny to protect a colony of rabbits and change their lives for the better. She has to use all her smarts, the understanding of human behaviour and most important, all the courage she never knew she had, to fight and conquer these dangerous missions. At last, the heaven approves Jenny’s wish to know how her family is coping with her death. She returns to earth as a ghost and gets to see a glimpse of her family’s everyday life. She also will be able to fulfill a promise she made to a boy, her first puppy love, by letting him know what to expect in the afterlife. And by doing so, she will be extremely surprised. As much as she enjoys seeing her family and her old friend, she is also looking forward to going back to heaven, which is a feeling that confuses her since she always wanted to come back to earth as a healthy little girl. But she is very happy now and it will be up to the heavens if she will get new assignments, become a guardian angel, or stay in heaven. Either way, she is happy with whatever decision will be made for her. My first eBook, Rock Talk, is about two pebbles who came out of the ocean to travel all over Canada and having a ton of fun doing it. The third one, Big Doug, will tell you what a thousand-year-old tree has seen during his life. ‘Fairy Tales’ is my fourth eBook. It tells stories about long forgotten times. It is pretty much for all ages. I am sure you will love it.
All the best to you,
Eri

Hi there, I am Eri,I came to Canada a long time ago. My degrees in architecture and structural engineering, which I achieved in Europe, are not recognized in Canada. Therefore, I started and worked in my restoration business. In my free time I drafted several books, mostly for children. Why for children? Well, I grow up with two older sisters who read fairy tales to me to shut me up from asking too many questions. When I was finally able to read on my own, I am absolutely sure the party they had was to celebrate their newfound freedom from me and my pestering.Anyway, it got me hooked on fairy tales. So far, I wrote four children’s books. The first one is ‘Rock talk’. The main characters, Francis and Lorie, travel all over Canada and have lots of fun doing it.The second one, ‘I will be back’, is about a little girl. Jenny is in a hospital, dying of cancer. She is, however, not at all afraid of dying. The young girl believes in reincarnation and is looking forward to returning to earth without the pain she has now. And she is right! She will come back. Just not exactly like she hoped. But most important, Jenny loved where she is and what she has to do.Number three is about ‘big Doug’, a thousand-year-old Douglas Fire who used to live on the West Coast on Vancouver Island, Canada. Many, many years ago, high up in the sky a tiny seed was blown miles and miles to the shore of the Pacific Ocean. It flowed down toward the sandy beach and before the tide could sweep it away, a raven picked it up, and carried it a short distance away from the wild ocean waters. From great heights he lost interest in it and let it go again. Finally, this petite seed reached the rich earth in the rain forest where it took root. Thanks to the raven, this young sapling grew to became one of the tallest trees on the West Coast of Canada and has countless stories to tell. The fourth book, ‘Fairy Tales’, tells stories about long forgotten times. Like kings, princes and princesses, cowboys and Indians, knights and soldiers, as well as rich people and bandits. It has something for everybody, children, grandmas or grandpas.I know you will love each one of them. All the best to you,Eri

    Chapter 1

    Hey there.

My name is Jenny. I am in a hospital right now. Since I’m only 10 years old, of course, it’s a Children’s Hospital.

My favorite nurse, who promised me she would never lie to me, told me my cancer had spread. Well, so much for going home soon!

Actually, I believe the only people who know that I might die very soon are my doctor and me.

But I am cool with it. I found a new friend here. An older boy, he is already 13 years old. His name is Jacob. I call him Jac. He likes it, I think.

We talked about dying and stuff and he said, he heard in school about reincarnation. That means, when a person died, he or she will come back; like re-born again. You just have to stay up there for a short while and then they send you back to earth where you start a new life.

I like that a lot because I will not have the cancer anymore. And Jac will not have the accident when he was hit by a car and broke his back.

Now he is in a wheelchair but in a new life, he can run around again. If we are lucky, we will even meet again. That would be really cool. I like him a lot.

Actually, Jac and I had made a deal. Whoever dies first will come back in a dream or so and tells the other one how it is on the other side and give some advice or whatever.

I am happy I have Jac as a friend. He totally gets me. We can talk for hours. I can tell him everything. I saw Jac only for a few minutes today. He always has therapy in the morning and after that, he comes into my room, and we have lunch together. Today he didn’t come because he had friends from school visiting him. I guess, they had their boy’s talk!

My mom is coming later in the afternoon. Maybe, my dad will come, too.

Well, I am a bit tired anyway, so I take a short nap.

    *

I must have slept longer than I intended. It is already getting dark. Or maybe, it’s only the rain which is drumming on the window that makes the sky so dark. It is raining for two days now.

Hey, there is my mom. My dad is also here and my older sister Emma. What are they doing all here? It’s not my birthday, or is it? No, it’s not! I’m still only ten years old.

My dad looks angry. Why is he so angry? And why are my mom and my sister crying? I wish I would know why they look at that child in the bed and not at me up here. Up here? What is going on? I cannot fly, why am I hovering on the ceiling of my room?

Wait a minute, that girl in the bed; it is me. Why am I still sleeping and why am I also up here? If that is a trick, it’s a pretty good one!

There comes Jac in his wheelchair. All right, he will wake me up and straighten everything out.

Now he is also crying and grasping my hand. And I’m still not waking up, but I’m flying higher toward that bright light over there.

I am actually feeling much better now. The pressure in my head is gone and there are no cramps in my belly anymore. It is really nice up here. I didn’t know I can fly. That’s amazing, I am not even flapping my arms; I think, I’m just like sailing, but there is no wind at all. Incredible! Maybe I can even get some speed. Well, not really, but it is still great.

I must be at least two or even three hundred meters up here and the light gets brighter and brighter. It is a powerful, warm light and everything is just fine.

Just like when granny was still alive, and she had her old stove in the large kitchen lit in the late fall, and we placed chestnuts on the red-hot stovetop. It smelled really nice while we waited ‘till the chestnuts turned black and cracked open.

Sometimes there was the first snow with big, huge snowflakes. We could see through the window that it was cold and windy outside, but it was nice and warm in Granny’s kitchen, and everybody was happy.

Lately, it felt like a long time ago that I had this safe and secure feeling, but it was just last year before I got sick.

Now that warm feeling is back again, and I even can fly now. Amazing!

I wish my friend Jac would be here with me. I’m not sure if he could fly in his wheelchair, but why not?

It feels like everything is possible here.

I must be flying for some time because I cannot see the hospital anymore. If I wouldn’t be so nosy to see what is on the end of the light maybe I could make a big loop and soar back to the hospital like Superwoman! That would be so cool.

Maybe even Jac could see me then and they all would stop crying because they could see how happy I am.

But I’m still not at the end of the light tunnel and I reeealy want to see what is there. I just cruise back a bit later.

    *

Suddenly I was at a large place. Everything was bright, peaceful, and soft white.

Something guided me to a group of children. I had never seen them before, but I felt like I know them all.

There was music in the background. Different than anything I had ever heard before. It was a quiet, soft song in a strange and wonderful language.

I didn’t know the words, but I understood what the song was about. I don’t remember what it was. Only that I liked it and made me feel good.

Most importantly, I never felt happier and better.

Anyway, after a while, a few of the kids slowly moved to the back row of our group and then they disappeared.

I asked a girl who was here before me what that was all about. She smiled and said:

    They got a new assignment!

I was already smiling since I liked it here so much, but now, I was really pleased, because now I knew that the stories about reincarnation were true, and I would come back to earth as a girl without cancer. Like I said to mom:

    I will be back.

I don’t know how long it took because time does not mean anything up here, but I was slowly moving to the back, and I think I drifted into a sleep.

    *

When I woke up, I was surrounded by tall grass. I never had seen such tall grass before. In front of it was a huge lake. My belly was rumbling; I was really hungry. Maybe I could find something to eat if I would go deeper into the grass.

No way! It was just not possible for me to see anything through the tall grass so I jumped as high as I could and perhaps, I’ll be able to see something.

Wow… that was an amazing jump I just made. I never thought any kid could jump that high and I actually fell back toward the big lake.

When I looked in the water, I could not see myself. All I saw was a little orange frog.

Eh… wait a sec; waving my arms, the frog is waving its arms.

You know what? I am back on earth alright, but not as a little girl. I am back as a little frog!

That was definitely not what I expected. They must have made a mistake up there!

At least I was kind of a pretty, little orange frog. I had never seen a frog like, well, like me.

And that big lake is just a water puddle!

I am wondering what I am supposed to eat now.

I should have listened better when we talked about Amphibians in school, back at the time when I was a little girl.

Maybe I should try to catch a fly or something that small. It looks like I have a long tongue. I can stick it all the way up, over my head to my back. Well, first of all, I need something to drink. The water in this small pond is as good as anything, I guess.

    Not too bad actually.

Hey, there is another frog over there. In fact, there are several in the water. All orange ones just like me. But none of them is moving. Is that a frog thing to do? Playing dead or sleeping a lot? Even in the water?

I have to swim out there and find out! When I was a little girl, I learned a little bit about how to swim. It is called the front stroke. I think I do the same here.

Off I go, jump in the water, and front stroke to the nearest brother or sister of mine, and to the next one and the next one.

Well, they are all dead! Maybe there is something wrong with the water. Oh my gosh, I drank some of it! Hopefully, it wasn’t enough to kill me, too. I feel a little dizzy. Maybe it’s better if I turn on my back and backstroke to the puddle shore.

    *

I jumped a bit all over the place to get an idea of where I was, and I saw many more dead orange frogs. I also saw a fat, dark brown monster frog. This guy was very much alive and probably very dangerous. So, I did not bother saying hi.

Then I saw a snake. Only a small one, but I know from watching TV that snakes can open their mouth very wide and love to eat little frogs like me. Luckily, they cannot jump as far as we frogs can. One big jump and I was out of harm’s way.

It’s kind of funny; I came back as a frog, but I still think like a girl. I have no idea how that is going to work.

All that excitement made me tired. It’s time for a nap. I jump over there where the flowers with the big leaves are and hide underneath them.

    *

That was a nice sleep I had. It must be early morning because there is some morning mist on the big leaves. I licked some drops from a leaf and then I saw my breakfast. A short but fat worm came from underneath a rock. I didn’t really know what to do and – flop – the worm was gone!

I ate it without even knowing it. I guess that is what they call instinct.

Now I hear voices that sound familiar. There are people who speak English. I better hid and listen first to what they are talking about.

What I understand is that they are three scientists from the United States, and we are here in Brazil. Brazil? What am I doing in Brazil?

Anyway, they are part of a Science Conference and they also saw all the dead orange frogs and they found out that it is a certain kind of fungus that kills my relatives. Apparently, it grows on trees, and we like to nibble on it and if we nibble too much we die. It only affected small
