PREFACE
We sat on the porch and talked, one rainy night. We shared general conversations that turned into a few laughs. He then asked to use my car to run to the store. I agreed because his car had a flat tire, and he didn’t have any means of transportation at that point. So eventually he left, and I fell asleep. After being asleep for about an hour, I started to wonder where he was because it was getting late; and he had not made it back home yet. I sent him a text to ask if he was alright and he replied yes.
Another hour passed and I began to think, it doesn’t take that long to go to the store. So, I decided to call him. When I called, he answered the phone, and I heard a girl and guy talking in the background. I realized that the phone answered in his pocket. I listened to them talk in the background, while I held the phone for 15 minutes. The more they talked, the more my heart broke into pieces. To think of him being with another woman and seeing her while in my car just shattered me. Many thoughts began to run through my head. My heart began to race, and my emotions were all over the place. I could not believe that he would disrespect me on such a high level. I was in disbelief!
Have you ever loved someone so much until it makes you nauseous to think about living without them? Not a second that goes by when you don’t think about them. You want to make them happy so bad, that it drains you. You put aside your personal wants, needs, and desires to satisfy theirs. Even though you love them wholeheartedly, they still manage to hurt you beyond explainable words.
I had to ask myself a question, what is forgiveness? According to Merriam-Webster.com, forgiveness is an intransitive verb to the word forgive
. One of the definitions provided for the word forgive
is to give up resentment of or claim requital. Letting go of
