Day 1
Rejoice in the Lord always; and again, I say rejoice
Philippians 4:4
How can I rejoice when time seems and feels so uncertain? This is the big question that is generally asked.
The reason is the cross and the freedom it brings, that freedom brings us hope that things are going to turn around for the better. This gives us peace even amid turmoil and the ability to remain calm and everything can feel as if it is normal. There can be such a feeling of serenity and removal of fear, doubt, or worry about our situation. You may be asking; how do I get to that place?
Let me share my experience: I have had many times of uncertainty when I did not know what the future would hold, but I learned to draw near to Jesus. His word says, Draw near to God and he will draw near to you
, James 4:8
I had a choice of whether to be sad, anxious, afraid, or worried but instead, I chose to draw close to Jesus and grab hold of the gift of freedom by spending time in his word. Worship, and praise for who he is, constant prayer and thanksgiving helped to grip my heart and to be in tune with him. In this place of trust everything about me began to change for the better. More peace, joy, love, patience, hope, faith, and lots more that the list is endless.
What are you going to choose to focus on: Uncertainty or Jesus?
Is there anything the Lord spoke to you about during this devotion time?
Day 2
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist...
Ephesians 6:11-14a
The belt of truth, what is the real meaning of it? We usually use a belt to keep our pants in place especially if they are loose to avoid embarrassment or sometimes it is used just as a fashion piece. The belt of truth when worn keeps us aligned with the truth of God’s word and keeps us strong because we are then grounded in God’s word. We need to wear it constantly.
Truth is your safety measure and will set you free. Being consistent in reading the Bible ensures that you learn the difference between truth and the lies of the enemy. His real and only weapon is deception and if he can deceive you then he has an open door to cause chaos in your life. Knowing the truth and being aligned with God’s truth really does help you know how to deal with situations and issues that come up in your life. When you are aligned you find that you will not be afraid when trouble or temptation comes.
A good example of this truth is the electrician up a utility pole has a safety belt that secures him from falling. Any failure to follow the procedure could lead to serious consequences. It is the same with us. If we fail to really rely on the truth of God’s word and come out of that safety, we will find ourselves dealing with the fallout consequences. Many of us have already experienced that.
Write down anything the Lord spoke to you, during your devotion time.
Day 3
Be Strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6
When we are going through circumstances or situations that seem so much more than we can handle, be rest assured that God is so much bigger than anything we are facing. He can turn every situation around if we let him. There will even be times when he intervenes, and we haven’t even prayed about it. Why? It is because he is a loving Father who cares so much about his children. Even though we cannot see, hear, or often feel him, there is such comfort in knowing that the truth really is that he does see, he does know, and he really does care about what we are going through. This verse assures us that he is never leaving you to go it alone and that he will never forsake you. You can trust his word, for it is real and I have experienced it first-hand.
Please write the things that God has spoken to you during your devotion time.
Day 4
"Consider it pure joy my brother, whenever you face trials of many kinds, for the testing of your faith develops perseverance. James 1:2-3
How can I have joy when I am facing many trials? That is a very good question. No one is going to be happy when going through a difficult time. However, what does this scripture say? ...for the testing of your faith develops perseverance
To preserver means to not give up or quit until you have pushed through the situation. It requires effort and determination to finish well and to succeed at overcoming the difficulty.
One example is a pregnant woman who must persevere through labor pains till she has delivered and is holding that beautiful bundle of joy in her arms.
A person who decides to go to University or College or any course for that matter needs to preserve to achieve the degree, diploma, or accreditation. Giving up will not lead to them becoming what they set out to study for. So too with us. If we give up before we have pressed through our trials we will not attain the victory that God has prepared for us and the building up of our faith and trust in him.
Trust God with his word that he will do what he says he will do. Whatever success is at the end there is always joy. Guaranteed!
Write down anything the Lord spoke to you during your devotion time.
Day 5
They are not of this world, even as I am not of it. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.
John 17:16-18
What does Jesus mean when he says we are in the world but not of this world? I believe he is saying to us and his disciples of the time, that all though we live physically in this world we are not to live or operate by the systems of the world. What we have been taught and what we see on social media is often laced with lies and leads us down paths of thinking that we should do this or that, but it is not God’s best for us.
People tend to be very self-centered leading them to behaviours and decisions that can lead to some serious consequences. So often when there is no regard for others, things like addictions, gambling, and pornography to name a few, lead to real damage in relationships. God’s heart is that we are living lives that reflect his love and care which means our choices will be challenged if they result in consequences that would be harmful to us or to others. All the vises that cause harm in our lives are based on lies of Satan our enemy. They always give the appearance of being something good. We as believers or followers of Christ should not be caught up in all the lies he tries to sell us. Instead, we can find strength from God himself to resist all these temptations and find true victory over any behavior, or issues that are causing trouble in our lives. God’s desire is that true believers are ones who live with integrity, good character, and have strong morals and values.
Write down anything the Lord spoke to you during your devotion time.
Day 6
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Mathew 11:30
What does brokenness look like? It is certainly not a pretty sight! What have you been carrying around for days, weeks, months, or even years? Has it been hurt, rejection, abuse, unforgiveness, or jealousy? Have these led to addictions, gossip, worry, anxiety, etc..? This is baggage that weighs us down and often becomes so heavy that even our appearance changes. When our demeanor is weighed down with the past our mood is affected, and we are no longer a happy person, and we are not free.
To lay our past down requires believing and trusting that God is big enough to take care of it all. 1 Peter 5:7 calls us to cast our burdens down for Jesus cares for us. He wants you to lay it all down at his feet. You do this in prayer. The moment you ask for help he immediately takes that burden from you. It may take persistent prayer to really realize your breakthrough especially if it has been a longstanding issue and if the pain is deep. You may need counseling or other help to overcome, and you should not feel guilty seeking help to be free. God will provide what you need for you to be truly and completely free. Go into your day knowing that he has got this!
Write down anything the Lord spoke to you during your devotion time.
Day 7
But now, O Lord, you are our Father, we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hands.
Isaiah 64:8
You Lord, God, are the potter and we are the clay, isn’t that beautiful? If you witness a potter throwing a work together, he will start by refining the clay to remove any lumps or impurities to make it smooth and will not be afraid to get dirty. His goal is perfection and excellence so that the finished product is useful and beautiful to look at. Once it is done to his satisfaction it can then be sold or shipped off to be used for what it was designed for.
This is what our Lord does for us. His desire is to take all our brokenness, and remove all the impurities so that he can shape and mold us for his divine purpose. You have a purpose for being here and you have a destiny that is unique to you and you, alone. Let that sink in! There can only be one of you and your purpose on this earth is totally unique to you. Allowing God to work in your life brings you to completeness and fulfillment that will fill you with joy and peace.
I repeat no two persons are the same and we are wonderfully made to serve our God-given purpose.
Write down anything the Lord spoke to you during your devotion time.
Day 8
If my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins, and I will heal their land.
Isaiah 64:8
This is revival and what a great revival! God wants to heal our land and this promise is from him, and he is faithful to fulfill every word that he has spoken to us. He is asking us to humble ourselves, pray to him, and seek his face. In turn, he will heal our land. Do you understand how big that is, the healing of our land and not just ours but the nations?
Let us begin with our families this includes our spouses and partners, children, and friends and extends to our neighbors and beyond. God has a plan for each and every one. The key here is to pray. So, what are we praying for? Do you see injustice, what about overcrowded hospitals and prisons or all the division and strife and jealousy and hatred? Unforgiveness is like a cancer that is spreading as is gossip. Let’s not ignore the increasing rates of suicide.
What do you see? Is there something that you feel passionate about that needs to change and you can no longer tolerate that it’s going on? Then pray, pray, pray. Prayer is powerful and believes it that you won’t be the only one praying about the issues that abound in our society right now. United prayer fronts do bring about change and God will hear and heal our land. Begin to seek his face and pray about those things that are bothering you. Together we can see revival and victory over the evil around us. This requires the work of prayer and faith to believe that God hears and responds.
Day 9
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.
Psalms 51:10
David was a man after God’s own heart. He didn’t think that he was perfect, he knew that he had flaws and that he had done wrong in the sight of God and man when he wrote this. His response was to go humbly before God and ask him to clean up his heart and correct his attitude.
This is what God is calling us to do as well. Do you hold grudges or ill feelings towards anyone? Have you done something that you feel terribly ashamed of like David? Then come to God humbly and ask for forgiveness. Ask for a clean heart and a new right spirit or attitude that aligns with God’s truth. He is quick to forgive and will help you to work on any area of weakness like bitterness or whatever issue that recurs and causes us to be hurt or to hurt others. Things like gossip or slander even sarcasm are things that God will help eradicate and turn us to be more loving and considerate of others. A clean heart is needed because the Bible teaches that it is out of the heart the mouth speaks. If we are constantly talking down or belittling others, speaking lies our heart is the issue. We need to be like David and ask God to change our hearts.

Day 10
The steps of a man are established by the LORD when he delights in his way
Psalms 37:23
Forget what you cannot control, focus on what you can; your attitude, faith, and perspective, will determine what path you choose.
God is a God of order and detail, and there is no way of escaping that fact. We always want to do things our way, but it is not always the best or what God has planned for us. God wants us to depend on him for every step of the way because ultimately, he is in control and does know what is best for us.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make straight our paths.
These directions are so important for us to understand and trust. He will smooth the way for you as you trust him. He will put everything in order.
We can look at creation and everything around us and marvel that all this was for us to enjoy but not only that he created you, so unique and so beautiful with a real purpose! You don’t exist because your mother had you, but you were planned before time by God to exist with every detail thought out. It is mind-blowing how God thought about every one of us and his plan for our lives. We have so much to be thankful for so let’s be in awe of his greatness and worship and praise him for that is what he deserves!

Day 11
Then the LORD God formed the man of the dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
Genesis 2:7
We are the result of God’s inspiration. Our very air comes from God and is keeping us alive. Our breathing is natural and automatic. It is also a supernatural work of God and started right back when He breathed into Adam, making him a living being.
There are many scriptures that substantiate that Jesus sustains all things. So, take a moment and think about your breath. It is automatic until you are thinking about it right? It is vital for life, and you know that when you stop breathing your heart will stop and life is over unless artificially revived. In the natural we have so much to be thankful for so let’s take a moment and thank God that you woke up to see another day and that you have the capacity to breathe in God’s air. He is worthy of our praise and thanksgiving.
What is God speaking to you in this Devotion?
Day 12
The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.
Proverbs 16:9
Everything happens for a reason, and nothing is wasted in God’s great divine plan. We have seen before that God is God, and he will put everything in order even the tragic events we may experience. He takes any circumstance and turns everything around into something so beautiful, miraculous, and so obvious that only God could have orchestrated it. Again, it is an opportunity to really trust him in those situations. God desires that everything in our life has order as he loves us too much to leave us as we are. He wants our hearts, home and family, finances, and any other thing you want to list, in order. He wants everything in order. Why? It’s when everything is in order, we have the greatest peace. Chaos always leaves us feeling uneasy and anxious. Take a minute to think about a time when there was a lot of chaos, and you will probably agree with me about how you felt.
Choices in life lead us down different paths. We may, in the moment feel we are making the right decision but soon realize that we have made a wrong choice. God is there for you so don’t pull away from him because you feel ashamed. Let him help you get back on track and put order back into your life. When you are on the right path there is peace and joy in knowing you are where you should be. This is the place of greatest fulfillment and contentment. To really help us make the right choices in life, we benefit by really knowing Jesus. We should also read and meditate on his word to understand his ways and guidance. It is also helpful to have the right kind of friends that are positive and encouraging and whom you can trust will give you the kind of advice that leads you right.
Day 13
Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.
Romans 12:19b ESV
Don’t repay someone back, evil for evil, instead bless them.
This is God speaking that he will oversee any revenge! Revenge is inflicting hurt or harm on someone for an injury or wrong suffered at their hands. So, our desire to inflict punishment on someone else for hurting us is human and typical human behaviour but there is a better way. Our emotional reaction is to want someone to be punished for the pain they have inflicted on us. Let us look at how Jesus responded when wrongfully accused and then sentenced to death for no reason; he responded with grace and asked God to forgive them!
When we hold onto the anger, this can lead to bitterness and unforgiveness. This is causing you to remain the victim of that person’s wrongdoing. Who is being punished? You, repeatedly. Think of it, every time you rehearse the incident you relive the hurt. Even when the event is happening it is hard not to retaliate or respond in anger. To take a deep breath and give yourself time to respond instead of reacting, it helps to send up a prayer to let God deal with the other person’s frustration or anger. If you are in the wrong, you can apologize but if you haven’t done anything wrong then instead of expending the emotional energy by reacting negatively you can ask the person what is needed to make things right. This takes the fire out of their anger so they can talk sensibly about a solution without escalating the situation. Keeping our cool and trusting God is a huge testimony of our trust in God and keeps our peace and our integrity. Wow, what a challenge! It is doable with God’s help and when we fully trust He will take care of things!
Day 14
Judge not, and you will not be judged, condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive you will be forgiven.
Luke 6:37
Ouch, that hurts! Forgiveness is a tough decision for most of us to make but it is the best one. Unforgiveness can hold us back in every area of our lives and prevent us from moving forward. We can spend our lives becoming bitter and angry at the hurt someone has done to us. That hurt is something we will not forget but it should not be something that we hold onto. We need to be able to let the past be past and move on to our future. That is why it is called the PAST!
Something that I learned and would like to share with you is that in every vehicle there is a windshield and a rear-view mirror. We only glance in the rear-view to check what is around or ahead of us but when driving we should be looking forward. If we kept looking in the rearview, we would soon find ourselves in an accident!
It’s the same with our lives, we need to be forward-looking. Learning to forgive quickly takes practice and the help of the Holy Spirit. A trusted spiritual friend could help you navigate forgiving someone who has hurt you deeply and move on from that with God’s healing. Unforgiveness is like a spiritual cancer that really stunts your ability to grow spiritually and will also affect all areas of your life, emotionally, physically, and in your relationships. With God’s help, you can heal and move on, and many can testify to this fact. The freedom is wonderful! Also, the following verse contains a sobering warning. God can’t forgive you if you are unwilling to forgive others!
Matthew 6:14 -15 "If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not
