Bible Lessons - Simon Kennard
Introduction
God created us in his image (Genesis 1:26-27). That means we are like him in many ways. He also created each of us uniquely and beautifully (Psalm 139:13-16). That means we are special and that there is purpose and meaning for our life. Or to quote Christian author, Darla Noble: God don’t make no junk! That includes you, too.
Each of us is special in God’s eyes and since God’s eyes are all-knowing and all-seeing, who are we to say otherwise? Who are we to doubt that God didn’t know what he was doing when he made us?
Each of us is born with God-given talents, abilities, and passions. Yes, it’s true that often times these things get lost or buried under piles of rubble we call life, but that doesn’t mean we cannot dig them out and use them to become the person God created us to be.
When we look in the mirror God wants us to see the person he sees—the person who was designed and created by the God who didn’t let even the tiniest of details go unnoticed or tended to. He wants us to see a person who is capable and worthy of receiving the love and respect of others.
But God also knows how hard this can be for us to accomplish. He knows there are those who chip away at our self-esteem with their words and actions. He knows how worldly perceptions of beauty, sexuality, intelligence, and importance can deceive us into thinking we don’t or can’t measure up or are undeserving of his blessings. That’s why the Bible is filled with so many words of hope and encouragement—words that remind us of our worth in God and the fact that we are special enough that he was willing to sacrifice his son, Jesus, on the cross as a payment for our sins so that we can have the opportunity to spend eternity with them in heaven.
The purpose of this book is to bring some of these verses together (40 to be exact) and combine them with prayers you can pray that ask God to open your heart, soul, and mind to the reality of just how fearfully and wonderfully made you are.
I want to suggest that you take your time with this book. One verse and prayer a day for 40 days would be best. That way each day’s verse
