About this ebook

Eating disorders are underwhelmingly discussed, highly misunderstood, and rarely spoken about in relation to Scripture and faith. But even though the bible may not address this trial specifically, we can still look to God’s word for wisdom, truth, and healing from the eating disorders that we, or the ones we love are battling.

In a collection of faith-based devotionals, Kasie Padilla leads others through thirty-one days of heartening messages and applicable scripture inspired by her desire to open hearts to receive His truth and love, even during the darkest of days. Her devotionals touch on the peace found in Jesus, the truth that we are all worthy of His love, the impact relationships have on successfully progressing through hardships, the Holy Spirit’s power that resides within all of us, healthy habits for healing, the motives of the heart, and much more.

31 Days of Hope for Overcoming Eating Disorders shares inspiring devotionals tailored to encourage anyone suffering from an eating disorder to find healing in Christ.

    Introduction

Whether it’s your first time opening this book, or you’re back for round five, welcome! I’m so happy you are here. God led you to this devotional for a purpose, and my hope is that your heart will be open to receiving His truth and love through it. Eating disorders (ED) are underwhelmingly discussed, highly misunderstood, and rarely spoken about in relation to Scripture and faith. But even though the Bible may not address this trial specifically, you can still look to God’s Word for wisdom, truth, and healing from the eating disorders you are battling.

    Day 1

    In His Peace

O ne of the greatest torments you may face with eating disorders in your life is the complete and total lack of peace. Food may be one of your primary sources of anxiety, and it also happens to be the one thing you can never live without or get away from. Do you see the dilemma? Every work party and lunch results in overthinking and anxiety. Every holiday and family gathering is no longer filled with laughter and love, but with stress and exhaustion. You may even turn down opportunities to connect with friends over game nights, celebrations, and catch-ups, because you couldn’t face the thoughts and feelings that accompanied ED.

But there is an answer to finding peace in every single one of those moments, and His name is Jesus. Isaiah 9:3 says, For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Jesus is the Prince of Peace; simply say His name and allow it to wash over you.

Maybe it sounds good in theory, but you’re not sure how you can actually overcome your battle with food. Maybe you’ve experienced countless sleepless nights, flooding
