About this ebook

Casper Farzan, playboy prince of Surra City, has a problem-- the invaders who occupied his city a year ago are back and hunting for revenge. He’d rather spend time charming political opponents into bed than rally a defense force-- but maybe that could be defense enough.

With the enemy ramming down his gates, Casper’s got one option left to call on for aid-- his ex-lover and childhood best friend Ezra, the head of the local fire priests. Ezra’s kisses are as hot as his magic... and so is the spite between them after Ezra turned traitor in the previous invasion. But Ezra’s priests are a powerhouse, so Casper’s got to either make up-- or suck it up-- to get Ezra on his side.

This is a M/M polyamorous erotic fantasy short at 10k words, and is the fourth in the series. Each short focuses on Casper's attempts to seduce and win over different allies as he tries to save his city.

    An Old Friend

Casper Farzan, Prince of Surra City, had taken to eating lunch in the astronomy tower so he could compulsively check on the armies outside his city gates. Sure, he could see them fine from his suites. But not all of them. Today his paranoia was paying off, because he was able to see Petrin, manipulative bastard and Casper’s once-captor, hauling a battering ram through the desert toward Surra City.

There’s no trees for miles, Kim said, disgusted. How far did they drag that?

The status was thus: two invading Sovrans had begun to raid Surra City. Casper had convinced one of them away. The other-- Petrin, who he’d ousted once and who could not bear to be ousted again-- had doubled down and sieged his City, even taking the secret tunnels under the keep. And Casper had snuck out to secure concussive mages from the neighboring Collective to kick them out of the tunnels. Now Petrin was pissed, and sieging was no longer enough. Apparently he’d decided to bust his way in.

Even with the reinforcements from the Collective, little Surra City still didn’t have enough forces for a proper fight against Petrin’s massive ground units. So: Casper had a new problem to solve.

He and Kim began to trudge back downstairs from the astronomy tower, headed for the offices they’d been nearly living in the past few weeks.

And they were greeted with an entirely different problem.

You’re sure? Casper asked his bodyguard. It was a stalling question while his mind spun.

    I am, Jin replied flatly.

It wasn’t the answer he was looking for. Earlier this morning, Jin had come into his palace office and told him that he had arrested people in connection with the attempts on Casper’s life. When Jin reported he’d just now identified the suspect’s employers, he’d expected them to be Asena spies. Instead the enemy was closer to home.

You’re sure they said Ezra Solan. Casper held up a hand. I’m just asking, because people will say anything under duress.

    Jin’s lips tightened. I didn’t torture them.

    No? He was genuinely surprised.

What, you think I have thumb screws? Even when he was being derisive, Jin’s faint Eurson accent softened his otherwise deep voice.

You just seem… It took milliseconds for Casper to regret starting that sentence.

Jin arched an eyebrow. Barbaric and dumb?

Dedicated. Casper winced. I’m sorry, people just keep torturing prisoners even when I tell them not to.

Jin sighed. I put them in two different rooms and kept asking questions until their stories were the same.

    "And they both
