D o you want to go out to lunch? Ava called across the office to me, sending my insides swirling about.

I nodded, unable to vocalize my answer because I liked her that much. Around her, I became an excited school girl with a mad crush. I went giggly, stuttering and totally uncool. She was just beautiful with her long, wavy blonde hair, her bright blue eyes, and her long, smooth legs. Her features were cute and sweet, which combined with her rocking body was an awesome combination.

I was totally into her.

The only problem was I’d had a girlfriend for the last two years – Michelle.

Michelle was gorgeous too, with her pale skin, bright red lips, dark hair and dark eyes. She was mysterious and exotic-looking which I loved as well.

I loved Michelle, but I wanted to sleep with Ava.

That was a massive problem. One that I had no idea how to solve.

Okay, let’s go to that new Italian place around the corner, said Ava. She smiled at me, sending butterflies darting up my veins. This was crazy, it had been driving me insane for a while now and it was affecting every aspect of my life. I couldn’t think straight, I couldn’t cope. It was even having a detrimental effect on my job – and I hadn’t been here long enough to start failing. It was a nightmare!

How the hell was I supposed to sit through another lunch with this woman without losing it altogether?

Sounds good, I replied weakly, knowing that I should just say no, but also knowing that there was no way that was going to happen. On top of having a crush on Ava, she was also my only friend at work. I needed her. I certainly didn’t want to lose her.

Great, she said. The grin she sent me had me wondering, was it possible that she felt the same way too? And how did I feel about that? After all, there was nothing I could do about either way.

COURTNEY still hadn’t replied to my message, and it was driving me crazy. She used to be amazing at texting me back at any time, but recently, things had been drifting.

It was my fault of course. I’d been so busy trying to further my graphic design business, that I’d let everything else slide. I’d just allowed myself to get so focused that everything else had taken a backseat in my life – and now I was reaping the repercussions of that.

As I stared at the blank screen of my phone once more, I wished I could just tell her what I had planned – I was certain that she would love it. I’d realized a couple of days ago how bad things were getting between us, and I’d decided to do something drastic about it, to show her how much I loved her. I couldn’t lose her – that much I knew for sure. I just hoped this went some way to preventing that.
