About this ebook

Casper Farzan, playboy prince of Surra City, has a problem-- the invaders who occupied his city a year ago are back and hunting for revenge. He’d rather spend time charming political opponents into bed than rally a defense force-- but maybe that could be defense enough.

Now with the city’s guard on his side, Casper turns his eye outward towards the enemy. With disagreements in the enemy ranks, he aims to persuade a fearsome lady general to break her half of the troops off-- only to find she and her second-in-command will make him beg for it instead.

This is a M/M/F polyamorous erotic fantasy short at 10k words, and is the second in a series. Each short focuses on Casper's attempts to seduce and win over different allies as he tries to save his city.

    A New Kind of Parley

Fire rained down on the walls of Surra City, and Prince Casper wasn’t thrilled about it.

Fuck! He screamed as a wall-mounted sword rattled to the ground next to him, narrowly missing his toes. Fuck, fuck fuck fuck. He dodged over it and sprinted up the spiral staircase leading to the highest room in the City.

This isn’t the best idea, warned Jin, his bodyguard, two feet behind him and not even the slightest bit out of breath.

Casper ungracefully gulped down air as he rocketed into the astronomy tower’s main room, sparsely decorated with bookshelves and a telescope. I have to see... how bad it is.

He skidded to a stop at the windows.

Not all of the city was on fire yet.

The invading Asena forces were using fire mages to try to scorch the city’s metal gates apart. Casper had met with them in a sham of a negotiation last week, and they’d agreed to forestall the invasion because of a (made-up) Scrumpox outbreak in the city that even the Asena Empire would want to avoid.

So much for waiting for the Asena Heartland to respond to the outbreak check: Petrin was invading anyway. With the messenger Casper had sent weeks away from returning, it was borderline treasonous for Petrin to strike, sham excuse or not. But since when had Petrin cared about that?

From this high up, Casper could also see over the city’s walls, where the Asena had small trebuchets with red-robed mages around them, lighting the substance that they were launching into his city. The market district was aflame, alarms blaring, the scant few waterworkers the city had rushing towards the blaze.

My lord, would you get down? Jin said tersely, and then grabbed him as another shot from the trebuchets hit the palace’s clay walls and rattled the ground below them. Casper lost his balance and tumbled into Jin’s very firm abs.

Splayed across the man, his fingers remembered how the skin under Jin’s shirt felt last night despite the impending danger. I’ve done enough going down recently, Jin, don’t you think? Casper said, with a teasing smile. We’re in the middle of an attack. Contain yourself.

Get up, Jin said, but he was blushing.

    Casper got up.

Earlier this week he’d survived an assassination attempt thanks to his bodyguard’s quick thinking. His talks with the Roseguard after had finally given Casper the confidence that his palace crew were not merely going to open the city gates to the invading forces. But now that the Asena knew their assassination had failed and the palace loyalties were firm, they were bringing out their real strength.

A year into Casper’s reign, and if he didn’t do something about it, he’d be left ruling a pile of burnt rubble. Or dead, like his parents.

Jin, he said, do you have paper?

My lord, Jin said, sounding like he was suffering.
