The Million Dollar Powerful Personality - Kamal Murdia

    Chapter 1

    There is Always A Tomorrow

"Silence has a beautiful voice. Stop the noise and

you will hear His voice in silence" – Rumi

There is a hero in each one of us. Everyone thinks the winner will win- but the world has seen ‘upsets’. The very fact that this book hits your retina, gives me a reason to believe you are different from the crowd. Those who always play safe in life, seldom, inspire anyone. A rebel is also a person who says ‘no’ to conformity. Those who wait too long, become part of the crowd. History is created by those who give a damn in life. To exist and live is a necessity, but to live well and beautifully is an art.

Your life is just a print out of your thoughts. The size of your dreams is your size.

The author one day, went to a restaurant in London and saw something unusual written on the wall-- ‘The owner of the restaurant eats in the same place’. The message was clear. An honest sermon straight from the heart has a way of touching other hearts. Most of the text, principles and techniques in the book are autobiographical – ‘I have lived them’. Most of us die with all the music in our heart, but life has music for those who want to listen. Remember, you have everything and no one can steal your sky. To make waves, you will first need to change your wavelength.

This book is dedicated to all those courageous men and women, who dared to dream and dared to make mistakes in pursuit of excellence. Some of the best things in life are called mistakes. We all bite our tongue once a while. Mistakes are not a crime, sometimes mistakes are just another way of doing things. Mistakes make life, full and more interesting. Experience teaches more than knowledge. Experience is what you do – with what happened to you. Knowledge teaches words and experience it’s meaning.

One thorn of experience teaches more than a thesis on caution. All good lessons in life, come from bad experiences. All good laws are made by bad people. Mistakes are portals of exciting discoveries in life, they are mentors. Mistakes, said Sophia Lauren, are the price we pay for a full life. Fear can trick us into living a boring life. It needs some courage to lead a difficult and unusual life. No one thinks high of those who ran away. If you miss your bus, just start walking. When going through hell- Keep moving.

A new life begins with new thoughts, new decisions, even installing new personality software’s. There is a story of two wood cutters. Each morning, they set off to the jungle. While the first one, only cut five trees, the second one would cut ten in the same time and earn double. This happened day after day. One day the first one asked the second woodcutter, How do you manage to earn double?

The second wood cutter replied, "After each tree I cut, I sharpen my axe."

Wisdom is always an over match for strength. Nothing can destroy iron but its own rust. When a pinch of carbon is added to iron, it becomes steel – which is many times stronger. Similarly, courage is only a muscle which needs to be exercised if you dare to live a life of courage, dare to dream big and dare to live the life you’ve always imagined.

There is no greater ecstasy in life, than to know and own yourself. You miss a lot, if you don’t live your life. The more you know your potential; the more wonders await you. The crowd gives security but takes away creativity. If you listen too much to others, you become a stranger to yourself. An essential aspect of creativity is being fearless. Sometimes, people forget their own strength and greatness. Don’t let people decide your life, and give their expert comments.

Good or bad, win or lose, you have the right to try your ideas. When you are conforming (playing like all), it’s like you are saving a football match, you just don’t want to win or shine. Don’t let fear rob you, of the joys of taking a risk. Winning starts when we lose the fear of losing. Teach yourself not to be too impressed by others. A copy at best can be called a ‘true copy’. People who stand out, never try to fit in. There are few things in life as satisfying as writing the script of your life, with your own hands and shouldering them.

Determination is a wakeup call of your will. In life, if you are persistent – you make it-if you are consistent – you keep it. Attitude is the other name of our intention; it decides the direction of our mind. Experts say 85 percent of your thinking and 68 percent of our actions result from attitude.

A father brought his son to Mahatma Gandhi – the Indian leader and said, Sir – my son – eats a lot of sugar, if you tell him, he will stop. Gandhi replied, Come back after two weeks. The surprised father said, Sir, we have come from long distance. Gandhi repeated, Come back after two weeks.

The father came back with his son after two weeks.

Gandhi said to the boy, Stop eating sugar.

The father quite surprised asked why he waited two weeks? Gandhi replied, "Two weeks ago, I too was eating sugar. " You must be the change you want to see in the world.

To the artist noting is routine, every day is a celebration. Every job is a portrait, paint it with excellence. Loving your duty adds beauty to the duty. If a job is worth doing well, it’s worth doing very well. Don’t just deliver a service, make it memorable. Don’t find a job, find a mission. Build a life, don’t just know your bio-data. They who play their role well soon become, ‘Role Models’. Individuals blossom into institutes just like seeds become trees.

Each day is a sleeping giant. Every sunshine brings the promise of a new dawn and a brand-new chapter in your life. Each day, is a beginning of a new life . Every day is your life in a miniature. Imitate the day to day regularity and persistence of the sun. When all else fails in life, time and future will still remain. Each day is a platform that takes you closer to your goals. Don’t waste today, for what happened yesterday -start again. The 24 hours we get is fixed, but the choice is yours. The past and the future are not equal.

The past has nothing new to say. You can’t make a future, of your past. The rear-view mirror in a car, is used with discretion Too much of past and future, at times, rob the present. The fragrance of a day is best felt in morning. Out of each day, the future is born. The sun works, ‘on rainy days too’. A beggar, in UK was found to be a millionaire, still he went to work the next morning. Hard work has hands, smart work has a mind and street- smart work is non-bookish.

The organized person simplifies and systematizes his life. He has goals and a plan. If you don’t program your life, life will program you. You’ve got to be self-driven, to become successful. Be proactive, things don’t always happen, make them happen. Planning is creating the future, it’s a mental mock drill, it’s our idea of the future through the eyes and mind of the present. A dream can revolutionize life. A dream that really hits you, wakes and shakes you.

Goals of the heart, are much more stubborn than those of the head. Goals turn invisible into visible by acting like a compass and guiding you. A person with big dreams is more powerful than a logical person. Try new things that scare and stretch your imagination. When you push your limits – they expand. If you are not on the edge, you are occupying too much space. Life requires all resources; internal or external, to make it big.

A book on the subject of personality, for which there is a universal need, must be comprehensive, practical and user friendly. Thereby, providing a blueprint and a roadmap for people in search for help. This self-help book provides the know-how, insights, and proven strategies that the readers need to design their personality. I can easily call this book-scientific steps to a powerful or a magnetic personality. Whatever the title of this book, it will impact your life forever.

This is not just a feel-good book. It does not say, there is a sun to warm and moon to charm you. It means business. Personality is not one big thing, but is the sum total of many small things just like the white colour is an amalgamation of seven colours. When everything starts working in coordination, the result is a mature, effective personality. You will learn, that personality shaping can be a fun filled game and the rewards will be commensurate to your diligence.

As long as you live keep learning to live - When Edison died, in his study were found 2,500 note books with facts and tit bits. As per Confucius, we learn anything in life in three ways:

    1. By reflection – which is noblest

    2. By imitation – which is easiest

    3. By experience – which is the toughestAny skill is acquired in two ways; firstly, by know – how and secondly by skill training or practice. Have you ever given it a thought that it takes fifteen days to learn to swim or drive a car?

If you study at an English school, it’s more likely that you can speak the language fluently. In China, children as young as 7-8 years are molded for gymnastics. Good books are wisdom in ink as they make millions think. Books ignite the mind, they are best friends, mentors and the cheapest vacation. A book worth reading is worth reading twice and worth buying. Readers become leaders.

The first thing taught in school is a nursery rhyme we all know- Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water. How many wells, are up the hill? In fact, it is always down the hill at a low level.

Now in the next verse, Jack falls down- but why does Jill come tumbling after and why she does not break her crown. The screen play and sequence doesn’t seem logical. Don’t accept what all exists, unless it has your approval. If you wish to enjoy your life, use ‘your’ mind. Sometimes think zigzag. Do question and challenge the status quo. Don’t always believe what all you hear and see. When we can celebrate tough times, we have learnt to live. If you shy away from adversity, you take away the opportunity to discover those inherent springs of strength. Falling in life is how one learns to fly in life. Most visionaries, were once ridiculed. Many impossible things of yester years are today’s possibilities. Impossible is made of many possible. Just increase the stamina for the impossible. Push your skills to the edge, after all, no dark night could ever stop the sun from rising again.

Break the rules-Bend the rules, as long as you live keep updating and learning how to live. Failures in life are nothing but feedbacks– a delivery report, you may say. We rise or fall, as per the level of our inner conversations. Dream big-talk big, who stops you. Stop stopping yourself.

When nothing seems to move, push yourself and do your push-ups. The art of life is also to use your sufferings and turn a minus into plus.

Wake up-make it all happen. When we have lost all; time and future still remain. Forget the past. When life is all dust-dust yourself and start again. The many who laugh today, once thought, they won’t smile again. When life seems dark, dream in color. A certain darkness, brightens a good movie. Keep your mind busy by expecting the best. The only place to go when you’re down is up.

Don’t let setbacks change your settings. Become comfortable with your discomfort. Those who work hard during the day, sleep very well at night. I have seldom seen an honest hard-working person defeated for long. Where hard work ends, perseverance begins. It’s not the lack of resources but the unwillingness to be resourceful. As we learn to live, we relish the same life more.

The meaning of life is to find your gift and the purpose of life, is to give it away. When Armstrong went to the moon and looked down, he realized how small humans are. All he then wanted was to come down. The bigger the man, smaller is his ego. As said, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle – The proof of a person’s greatness is the perception of his smallness. The big man remembers, no one is small. Aim high in life, but stay humble at heart. Stay true in dark and humble in spotlight. It’s not how big is your house, but how happy your home is.

    I know that I know.

As a cosmetic surgeon, I change faces: I change lives. A tailor knows that he can make a three-piece suit from the cloth in front of him. An architect knows that building the castle is only a matter of time. A pilot knows how and at

what height should he fly the plane. The same way, I am sure of the soundness of the principles and techniques professed in the book, as I have lived them, experienced them and learned from them. Only you, need to be able to invite the positive changes in your personality and life. Your limits are illusions and your fears are thieves – they steal you away from yourself.

Through this book, I feel privileged to be your personality coach and share as much cortex of my brain as possible, in the lexicon. Make personality programming an educative, entertaining and a pleasant journey. Eighty percent of success in life is just – to shut up, show up and work hard. The remote control of life is in your hands – you can change it. You can begin any day, anywhere and in any state. Just start. Period.

Every next level of life will need a new version of you. We all wake up from sleep, from now – wake up in life. You were born a king- don’t die a pauper.

Enough of handshakes – first shake yourself. Let’s look into the future with a fresh pair of eyes. A year from now- revisit this page- you will know.

I promise this book will change your personality!

Are you ready for this journey?

    Chapter 2

    Think out of the Box

    Creativity is intelligence having fun

    - Albert Einstein

The fables of ancient Greece are well known. Out of the 725 Aesop’s fables, one timeless classic is the traditional hare and tortoise – race saga. The old tale, like old wine, still gives a kick. Morals build the inner fabric of an evolving child and are so important. The most essential foundation of life, personality and human cosmos is to be a good human being. Life is no child’s play and a fable of Aesop. The growing child soon becomes an adult, the world of school and the university of life are so different.

The hare and tortoise, linear story of the 6th century today has evolved and blossomed into three-dimensional story of this age. Each story instructs. Think differently and sometimes out of the box – solutions will pop out. The hare and the tortoise fable and its variations here are used as a metaphor to highlight the mind boggling and many ways you can positively change your personality and your life – if you wish. You can creatively design your personality. New ideas can be game changers.

The 12 Versions of Hare and Tortoise Race Story ©

    Story 1

The vainglorious hare loved to boast and show off about his speed and himself. He would often mock and humiliate the tortoise about his slow speed. Tired of his belittling, the tortoise resolved to teach the hare a lesson. Halfway through the race, sensing he was way ahead of the tortoise – the hare slept. By the time he woke, he found the other animals cheering the tortoise near the finish line. The rabbit had speed, but had no sincerity. Hence, lost the race due to over confidence. It was a case of self-goal.

    Moral

Slow and steady wins the race. Long time consistency beats short time intensity.

    Story 2

The hare community was livid- to hear the unbelievable – that the tortoise has defeated the hare. Children’s books were filled with this race story. The disgraced rabbit who lost the race, realized his mistake and apologized to fellow rabbits, What do I do to make you all happy again?

Challenge the tortoise and win the race. Our reputation is at stake, said the fellow rabbits. This time the rabbit made no mistake, and he won.

    Moral

Fast and efficient score over slow and steady. Fast movers soon take over the first movers.

    Story 3

The tortoise who had by now become accustomed to some fame as an ex winner of the race, realized they can never win against the speed of the rabbit. The tortoise gathered all the others and went to Sam, who was the most intelligent tortoise and an out of the shell thinker. The tortoise told Sam of their plight, Is there any way you can salvage our lost reputation?

Sam took a long sweep at his pipe and said, Go and challenge the hare for a new race after one month. The race kept, involved a kilometer on land and a kilometer in river. The hare ran very fast on land, but it was ultimately the tortoise who crossed the river and won the race.

    Moral

If you think differently you can win. To fix a problem, first fix your mind,

To solve problems, be solution minded. The hare had ‘speed’- but the tortoise had ‘strategy’.

    Story 4

Cheating- Cheating! said the hare, The race is run on land.

The tortoise said, Who decides that? Why not in water?

The hare had to concede that the tortoise had outsmarted him with a superior idea and strategy.

    Moral

The tortoise played the game to his core competence.

    Story 5

The hare society was not happy and filed a court stay order, so the tortoise had to arrange a rematch on land. The race was scheduled after a month. The hare due to his bad behavior had offended many in the jungle, so they all ganged up with a plan. On the day of the race, midway, the sprinter hare was misguided by informing him that there was a land slide ahead hence, he needed to change his course. This was an unfair manipulation but the world is not all morals. The hare had to take a long route, while the tortoise won the race yet again.

    Moral

Your enemies gang up against you. If you shine too much, people will dim your light, Remember – the bulb was hanged on wall by society of candles.

    Story 6

The defeated hare again went to the ‘jungle court’ and again complained about how he was manipulated and misguided to lose the race. So, yet again another new race was ordered and this time Sam worked on a different strategy. He studied the sprinter hare and found in his research that this hare, was a booze lover. Sam arranged ‘Jungle Drinks’ the sponsor of the race, to tempt and distract the hare during the race. The hare fell into the trap; by evening the tortoise had won.

    Moral

Don’t just be Serious-be Sincere too. Success is sum total of many parts; each is important. Your talent is no guarantee of your success in life.

    Story 7

Repeated defeats had humbled the hare. The hare told the tortoise, this race is planted by human beings who do not want us to unite and live peacefully in the jungle, so the hare said, On land, I will carry you and in water, you can carry me.

Soon, the duo became friends and the concept of a teamwork was born.

    Moral

Team work makes dreams work. A team has many hands but one brain and one heart.

    Story 8

The race malice had long disappeared and hare and tortoise who were friends now, went to the jungle for an evening walk. Suddenly a lion’s roar was heard. The tortoise immediately started tying his shoes laces. The hare asked the tortoise, Do you think you can run faster than the lion?

The tortoise replied, No, I just have to run faster than you!

    Moral

Welcome to the rat race and world of corporate competition. In cut throat competition- for you to win, the other must lose. In life it is easy to defeat someone, but so difficult to win someone.

    Story 9

The tortoise to move ahead sticks its neck out and takes a risk to see and move forward. If you want to scale new mountains or discover pearls in ocean you have to lose sight of the shoreline. Those who dare nothing in life, should expect to achieve nothing. Too much ego kills talent. Ego gives a swollen head and pride gives a swollen heart; both are heavy- they slow us down in life. Be talented, take risks but be humble. Shut up and let your success do the talking.

    Moral

Take risks, if you win- you guide, if you lose – you learn.

    Story 10

Receding ‘hare’ line – The Reverse race – in this race, the rules of the race were changed and a new version of ‘reverse race’ was introduced . The rabbit was good in the conventional race, but the tortoise had practiced this new type of race and won.

    Moral

When at the edge of a cliff, success is to travel backwards. Military generals know, how to retreat, regroup and re attack.

    Story 11

The hare and tortoise story, is also an everyday story- where we race against time. We think we have plenty of time, we
