Introduction: My Story
I left school with little or no formal qualifications; I had not enjoyed the school system. That said, I left school full of optimism and I had big dreams about how successful I was going to be.
I soon learned that the world can be a real "dream destroyer" and the daily grind can soon chip away at your energy and optimistic outlook. In no time at all I was in a full time job that I did not really enjoy, had amassed a reasonable measure of personal debt and had developed a chronic lack of vision for my personal future, had lost my passion for life and had begun to lose my confidence and optimistic approach to life.
By chance I came across a series of personal development programs and they completely transformed my entire life. I would never have thought I would live the life I now live.
I now enjoy a life that is both challenging and fulfilling, I get to meet and work with some of the most incredible people, run my own business and return to formal education as a University Lecturer.
This journey has been amazing, fun and downright mind-blowingly satisfying. I wrote this book because I have personally experienced the transforming power of personal development, and NLP in particular.
After I published the first edition of this book I was amazed at the amount of positive feedback I received. The key theme that seems to have contributed to the success of the first edition was the easy to read style, short and concise and dealt with personal development in a way that was not over intellectualized or playing to a specific audience.
The reason for this second edition is twofold, the first one is a confession; there are mistakes (spelling) in the first edition that were not picked up in proofreading. The second reason is even simpler, I just wanted to add more information and change the text font and layout to make it easier to read.
So a good question would be what’s new in this second edition? I have added to two new chapters, additional quotations that I feel are both inspiring and uplifting, more stories that coach some new coaching questions and I have generally refreshed the entire text.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank personally all of those individuals who have purchased the first edition of this book and taken the time to send me their reviews
