MAURICIO ENRIQUE FAU
Mauricio Enrique Fau nació en Buenos Aires en 1965. Se recibió de Licenciado en Ciencia Política en la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Cursó también Derecho en la UBA y Periodismo en la Universidad de Morón. Realizó estudios en FLACSO Argentina. Docente de la UBA y AUTOR DE MÁS DE 3.000 RESÚMENES de Psicología, Sociología, Ciencia Política, Antropología, Derecho, Historia, Epistemología, Lógica, Filosofía, Economía, Semiología, Educación y demás disciplinas de las Ciencias Sociales. Desde 2005 dirige La Bisagra Editorial, especializada en técnicas de estudio y materiales que facilitan la transición desde la escuela secundaria a la universidad. Por intermedio de La Bisagra publicó 38 libros. Participa en diversas ferias del libro, entre ellas la Feria Internacional del Libro de Buenos Aires y la FIL Guadalajara.

EN LA CULTURA CONSUMISTA LOS CONSUMIDORES ACTÚAN SIN PENSAR.
Esa sociedad de consumidores
interpela
a sus miembros como tales, es decir, como consumidores. Los evalúa para darles premios o castigos, es decir lugares de privilegio o lugares de exclusión de la sociedad.
En el siglo XVIII prácticamente no existía esta cultura del consumo; a pesar de la publicidad y el comercio, en el siglo XIX tampoco.
En la mayor parte de la HISTORIA MODERNA, la sociedad interpelaba
a los HOMBRES como PRODUCTORES (obreros) Y SOLDADOS, y a las mujeres como proveedoras de servicios (amas de casa por ejemplo). OBEDIENCIA Y RUTINA eran los valores inculcados, para adaptarlos a la fábrica y el campo de batalla.
La SOCIEDAD DE CONSUMO prioriza en cambio el MANEJO DEL ESPÍRITU: aún antes de aprender a leer, a cada individuo se le impulsa al mecanismo de la ADICCIÓN A LAS COMPRAS
. Sin reconocer diferencias de clase, sexo o edad, la sociedad de consumidores crea CONSUMIDORES DE VOCACIÓN
.
Así, hasta los más pobres son forzados a gastar más en objetos inútiles que en necesidades esenciales, todo para no ser socialmente humillados.
Si en la sociedad de productores se reprobaba al que no se adaptaba a la productividad y la militarización, en la sociedad de consumidores los inválidos
son los consumidores fallidos
. Y esa falla
es achacada al individuo, no a la sociedad.
EL OBJETIVO DEL CONSUMO NO ES SATISFACER LAS NECESIDADES: ES CONVERTIR AL CONSUMIDOR EN PRODUCTO; PONER A LOS CONSUMIDORES COMO BIENES DE CAMBIO VENDIBLES
De este modo, los miembros de una sociedad de consumidores son ellos mismos bienes de consumo
.
¿Y cuál es el atractivo de los productos de consumo?: aumentar el valor de mercado de quien los consume.
Mientras que en la sociedad de productores se priorizaba lo societal
, en la sociedad de consumidores se prioriza lo individual.
Pero se trata de un individuo adaptado al mercado: un consumidor, por ejemplo, de prendas provocativas y sensuales (de acuerdo con la moda). Esto es así porque SEGUIR SIENDO DESEABLE ES UNA CONDICIÓN PARA ESTAR Y PERMANECER EN EL MERCADO.
Aparentemente, el hombre se habría liberado de las rutinas obligatorias de las viejas sociedades y ahora sería un homo eligens
. Pero esto es falso: EN LUGAR DE LIBERTAD, EL INDIVIDUO DE LA SOCIEDAD DE CONSUMIDORES TIENE SU VIDA COLONIZADA POR LOS MERCADOS.
Dice Bauman que EL CONSUMO ES EL MECANISMO FUNDAMENTAL DE TRANSFORMACIÓN DEL CONSUMIDOR EN PRODUCTO

Daniel Thomas Cook ha estudiado el proceso de conversión de la infancia en un producto de consumo. Esto implica el pasaje de las pautas de consumo desde el punto de vista de los padres al punto de vista de los niños, la PAIDOCULARIDAD
, por medio del cual las empresas ajustan sus estrategias de marketing y diseño al ojo infantil.
EL PODER SOBERANO ESTÁ EN LA ACTUAL SOCIEDAD DE CONSUMIDORES EN MANOS DEL MERCADO: ES ÉSTE QUIEN DECIDE QUIÉN SE SALVA
Y QUIÉN QUEDA CONDENADO
, QUIÉN ENTRA AL SISTEMA COMO CONSUMIDOR Y QUIÉN QUEDA EXCLUIDO POR FALLADO
. EL ESTADO HA SIDO DESPLAZADO A UN SEGUNDO LUGAR
La política ha perdido su rol de fijar reglas y arbitrar el juego. Y EL ESTADO SIMPLEMENTE EJECUTA LA SOBERANÍA DEL MERCADO. Por ejemplo, es el caso de un ministro inglés cuando dice que la política inmigratoria aceptará a la gente que el país necesita
y rechazará al resto. Lo que el país necesita
es lo que el mercado necesita: el funcionario se pregunta ¿hay compradores para esta mercancía?
(la mercancía de mano de obra inmigrante). Si las empresas demandan a ese tipo de empleado, el gobierno fomentará su entrada. Caso contrario, la desalentará.
Mientras que en la sociedad de productores se privilegiaba el futuro, el largo plazo y las necesidades colectivas (por ejemplo, para la formación de las naciones se apeló al patriotismo, algo inculcado que enseñaba a sacrificarse personalmente por un ideal común), en la sociedad de consumidores se prioriza el ahora, el corto plazo y las necesidades individuales.
También aquella sociedad tenía mecanismos de control panópticos (Foucault) muy complicados: la manipulación y rutinización de las conductas era costosa, engorrosa y conflictiva.
En la nueva sociedad líquida de consumidores sólo hay una obligación: la obligación de elegir, la libertad de optar. Y eso haría desaparecer los conflictos. Eso en apariencia, claro.
Los viejos sacrificios de dar la vida por la patria (hacer el servicio militar, ir a la guerra) fueron reemplazados por hinchar por la selección en el mundial de fútbol. La hinchada, LA MULTITUD REEMPLAZÓ AL GRUPO.
LA MULTITUD, A DIFERENCIA DEL GRUPO, NO TRABAJA EN EQUIPO NI SABE DE DIVISIÓN DEL TRABAJO. La multitud es la simple suma de
