Jesus Speaking to My Heart - Heinz W. Wegener

Jesus Speaking to My Heart, I

    Believe—Introduction

Jesus speaking to my heart, I believe? What does that mean, and is it scriptural? Many would agree that Jesus speaks to us in many ways, the most basic one being as we read and meditate on scripture. Other ways include messages by pastors, religious broadcasts, good books, fellowship with other believers, and spiritual counselors, among others.

Peter Lord, in his book Hearing God, which I highly recommend, states that even though good, …like many other things, when used as a substitute for the time, the effort, and the perseverance of hearing God for ourselves, they become problem areas (page 34). Peter Lord goes on to give a very good, scriptural foundation of the elements of hearing God ourselves, including the dangers to be aware of when we enter the spiritual realm. I would highly recommend you read and study Hearing God as Peter Lord gives details and scriptures to support this notion that God can and desires to speak to each one of us directly.

Prior to reading this book, I had experienced occasional times in my quiet time where I felt Jesus was speaking to my heart and wrote down what came to my mind that Jesus might be telling me. After reading Hearing God several times, I felt that Jesus wanted me to listen to His voice more frequently, which became a daily part of my quiet time. I would pick a verse or two in the daily chapter of the New Testament that I was reading, write a prayer to Father God relating to this and write the words, Jesus speaking to my heart, I believe, and then begin to write what I thought Jesus might be telling me.

Although this is an imperfect communication on my part, I believe Jesus has spoken to my heart many things that encourage and teach me. My caveat, I believe, means exactly that. There is no assurance that what I have written is from Jesus and to make this more than it is, is both not my intention and potentially dangerous and non-biblical. My purpose is to share this to encourage and inspire you and also to plant seeds in your mind to spend quiet time listening to Jesus, letting Him speak to you individually, and growing in love of Him.

Can Jesus speak to your heart? If you have never admitted you are a sinner in need of a Savior and confessed your sins and ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, I believe His main communication is to bring you to that saving knowledge. If you have never done so, why not make your eternal decision now by inviting Jesus Christ into your life by saying the following with all your heart:

Lord Jesus, I believe you died for my sins, and I ask your forgiveness. I receive you now as my personal Lord and Savior and invite you to manage my life from this day forward. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, the Bible says, For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved (Romans 10:13, NIV). This is the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ.

God bless you as you grow in love of and obedience to our Risen Lord Jesus Christ!

    Jesus Speaks to Me Often

And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased’ (Matthew 3:17, NIV).

Dear Wonderful, Awesome Father God, how incredible that You wspoke audibly in this way at Jesus’ baptism. Please help me to hear You in however You decide to speak to me.

Jesus speaking to my heart, I believe:

I speak to you often in many ways and have not done so audibly yet but may do so in the future. Your hearing Me occurs when I speak to your heart as I am doing now and also through scripture, other people, especially Nan, other books, the media, nature, and in many, many ways and times. The evil one also speaks to you through the world and the flesh and also directly by planting evil, discouraging thoughts in your head. As all people are, you are sometimes caught off guard to his wicked words and let yourself get discouraged and defeated until I have to remind you of where this junk is coming from. Rejoice in Me as I speak to you often in many positive ways! Thank you, Lord Jesus Christ!

Making Me a Fisher of Men

Come, follow me, Jesus said, and I will make you fishers of men (Matthew 4:19, NIV).

Dear Wonderful, Awesome, Compelling Father God, what a great mission statement to follow Jesus, and He will make me a fisher of men for His heavenly kingdom!

Jesus speaking to my heart, I believe:

Making you a fisher of men is what I do with all people who are saved, and there are many ways this manifests itself in a born-again person’s life. For some, it will mean they become preachers, missionaries, or some other full-time ministry. For others, it will mean being a businessman or of some other occupation and to witness in the process of conducting life in the day-to-day responsibilities this involves. For some, it may mean being in some form of media business that influences people for Me there. The key is to see what I have given you interest and passion for and have equipped you to do, and in your case, it is being a business owner providing products for the satellite communications industry. Rejoice in this, and don’t get sidetracked! Thank You, Lord Jesus Christ!

    Loving My Enemy

But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you (Matthew 5:44, NIV).

Dear Wonderful, Loving Father God, how this world would be changed if everyone loved their enemies. Help me to do so in my environment.

Jesus speaking to my heart, I believe:

Loving your enemy is impossible outside of the transforming work of Holy Spirit changing you from the inside out. It is also a very unpopular thing to do as almost everyone will be convicted of their shortcoming in this, even believers, and they will resent everyone who tries to love their enemy. In business, this means your competitors, of course, and loving them does not mean giving them your business or trade secrets, but it does mean to go out of your way to be friendly and cordial way outside the normal limits of courtesy that the world allows. Always check yourself when you get angry at people or groups or organizations who are different than you and who you disagree with. Let Holy Spirit change you from the inside so that you will more and more love your enemies. Thank You, Lord Jesus Christ!

    Worry Is Unbelief

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life (Matthew 6:25a, NIV).

Dear Wonderful, All-Powerful, Almighty Father God, thank You for Jesus’ command to not worry about my life or anything to do with it because You are Large and in charge!

Jesus speaking to my heart, I believe:

Worry is unbelief, and there are many ways satan fuels this. Worry is an expression of fear, uncertainty, concern, doubt, anxiety, and the general thought that something bad is about to happen. Living in a fallen world will result in sickness, financial distress, loss, death, and I have conquered the greatest of these, death, by My death and resurrection for the forgiveness of all sin. Those born-again by my Spirit at salvation should have a certainty of eternal life with Me after they die but also that I am with them and will never leave them or forsake them. There is no other thing that can eliminate worry but Me active in a person’s life after they are saved. So be happy, don’t worry because you know Me Who holds the future, and it is awesome and good for believers! Thank You, Lord Jesus Christ!

    Knowing Jesus

I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ (Matthew 7:23, NIV)

Dear Wonderful, Righteous, Merciful Father God, what a chilling verse where Jesus tells people who prophesied and did miracles in His name that He never knew them. Also that these will be many. Help me understand this so I won’t be in this group and yet not get into a works mindset.

Jesus speaking to my heart, I believe:

Knowing Me will result in a soft heart to others and an aversion to doing any evil. Evildoers are people who sin constantly and boldly and live in rebellion to Me, although they may do religious things and say religious words. A person cannot be born again (like you are) and not know Me and follow Me. There are millions of religious people that call themselves Christian but are not born again by confessing they are sinners and repenting of their sins, and asking Me to save them by accepting My free gift of salvation of my sacrificial death and resurrection for the forgiveness of their sins. When they are born again, they will know Me and are guaranteed to be in heaven when they die. Thank You, Lord Jesus Christ!

Jesus Is Always Eager to Heal

Jesus said to him, ‘I will go and heal him?’ (Matthew 8:7, NIV)

Dear Wonderful, Loving, Healing, Delivering Father God, how wonderful that Jesus said he would heal the Centurion’s servant with the centurion just telling Jesus He needed his help and telling Jesus what was wrong with his servant. Help me to listen for Jesus’ directions when I pray for others and to always believe Jesus is eager to heal the sick.

Jesus speaking to my heart, I believe:

I am always eager to heal the sick, and the reason many aren’t healed is not because I am not willing or eager to heal the sick. Father God always has a bigger and better plan in mind, and you must be solid in knowing this and that you can trust Father God for the perfect answer to every prayer, whether the answer is Yes, No, Not right now, or you can’t seem to hear any answer. You live in a fallen world filled with sickness and death, and no one (even Me in my human form) will escape dying. The real goal is for all people to be saved and to spend eternity in a magnificent, sin and sorrow-free place called Heaven with Me through salvation by grace through faith in Me and Father God works every circumstance to that end. Thank You, Lord Jesus Christ!

Jesus Is Able to Do Anything Asked of Him

When He had gone indoors, the blind men came to Him, and He asked them, ‘Do you believe that I am able to do this?’ (Matthew 9:28, NIV)

Dear Wonderful, Magnificent, Healing, Saving Father God, how awesome were Jesus’ miracles. Help me to always believe that Jesus is able to do this no matter what this might be and to always rejoice in the results.

Jesus speaking to my heart, I believe:

I am able to do anything asked of Me, but My response to your prayer request will always be the best in light of Father God’s perfect and infinitely good plan. To preconceive My answer to your prayer is often a sign of unbelief, and your attitude during and after praying should be one of breathless expectation and wonder at My perfect answer to your prayer regardless of what happens next. Rejoice in this before, during, and after praying, and the more you are able to do this, the closer you will be to full trust and dependence on Me and not in your abilities to craft a prayer in such a way that exactly what you ask for comes to pass because of what and how you pray. Leave everything up to Me, knowing I am able to do anything! Thank You, Lord Jesus Christ!

    Following Jesus in My Business

And anyone who does not take his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me (Matthew 10:38, NIV).

Dear Wonderful, Awesome, Magnificent Father God, I see this as following Jesus in adversity, but also taking my (Your) company, Cross, and following Jesus.

Jesus speaking to my heart, I believe:

Following Me in your business involves doing just what you are doing in being an excellent, responsive company in your field and being bold for Me at the same time. It is a simple thing like applying the golden rule to others, and it is a complex thing like loving your competitors and praying for those who persecute you. It is falling back on Me and leaning on Me heavily at all times for your provision and ideas and plans. It means resting in Me and rejoicing in Me at all times, especially when it looks like things are coming unraveled. It means trusting in Me with all your heart and leaning not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Me and seek Me first, and I will give you a clear path on how to follow Me in your business! Thank You, Lord Jesus Christ!

    Taking Jesus’ Yoke

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls (Matthew 11:29, NIV).

Dear Wonderful, Gentle, Humble, All-Knowing Father God, how awesome that You and Jesus call us to learn from You and that in You we find rest for our souls.

Jesus speaking to my heat, I believe:

Taking My yoke means going where I go and doing what I do and doing this freely and gladly. To a great part, you already do this, and you do have rest for your soul, which is available to every believer who has accepted My free gift of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Me alone; My death and resurrection for the forgiveness of all sin. It is a day-to-day decision by every believer to choose My yoke freely, and if they do, their lives will be filled with rest in their soul even if everything around them seems to be in chaos. It is the only way to go in a fallen world filled with evil and uncertainty, and a soul at rest is a great witness to the lost of the world. Thank You, Lord Jesus Christ!

    Being Misunderstood

    by Family and Friends

While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to Him (Matthew 12:46, NIV).

Dear Wonderful, Almighty, All-Knowing Father God, as I read this, the thought occurs to me that maybe Jesus’ mother and brothers thought He was off-base in His teaching and wanted Him to tone down His talk. They didn’t appear to be part of his inner circle as they stood outside.

Jesus speaking to my heart, I believe:

Being misunderstood by family and friends almost always comes with following Me as it will seem as if you are off-base from what the world would say is ‘normal.’ But do not be afraid or stifled by criticism, even from other believers, as long as you are obeying Me and are sure that I have spoken clearly to you about a matter. Know that what confuses the world is to love your enemy and to pray for those who persecute you. A person with a gentle, soft, loving heart turned to Me will often be considered soft, weak, and lacking motivation, so rejoice in Me and be aware this will often lead to being misunderstood. Thank You, Lord Jesus Christ!

    Everything that Causes Sin

The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will weed out of His kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil (Matthew 13:41, NIV).

Dear Wonderful, Righteous, Forgiving Father God, thank You for this time of the end of sin and evil and that even at this end time, any who repent and trust Jesus for forgiveness of their sin will be saved.

Jesus speaking to my heart, I believe:

Everything that causes sin is almost everything that the world, the flesh, and the devil create and includes all the obvious porn and depravation available in increasingly large amounts, self-indulgence, and other forms of hedonism but also all things that distort My truth—even religious things and ideas. There is so much evil in the world today that passes for normal behavior; it is very hard to see what is not evil and does not cause sin. Stay in My Word and rejuvenate yourself with worship in a strong believing church like you are attending now. The temptation to compromise this to gain more community is not of Me, so stay where you are worshipping now, and I will bring you the community you long for. Thank You, Lord Jesus Christ!

    Miracles

Jesus replied, ‘They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat’ (Matthew 14:16, NIV).

Dear Wonderful, Miraculous, Giving Father God, thank You that You often get us to participate in Your miracles to build our faith and to trust You.

Jesus speaking to my heart, I believe:

Miracles show My presence to the lost, and I used them to confirm that I was God in human form and had full power over every situation of sickness or other need as in the food these people needed. Miracles happen today in many situations and are realized mostly through the prayers of believers who are yielded to Me and who trust Me for the results and bring what they have for Me to use. When you pray, believe Me for the miraculous and yet be totally at peace to leave the results up to Me. I can be trusted regardless of the apparent answer to prayer, even if it looks like nothing happened. Learn to relax in Me and to pray with joy and excitement as you know that your prayers are 100 percent answered and sometimes with My miracles. Thank You, Lord Jesus Christ!

    Rules Taught by Men

They worship Me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men (Matthew 15:9, NIV).

Dear Wonderful, Perfect, Awesome Father God, help me to not worship Jesus in vain and to share Your teachings and not rules taught by men.

Jesus speaking to my heart, I believe:

Rules taught by men abound in your world today, not only in matters of religion but in every area of life, including business, work, careers, personal and business finance, marriage, relationships, medicine, etc. These rules sound good, logical, and convincing but produce horribly rotten fruit and deadly results. But few look at the results and insist on continuing with these rules taught by men anyhow and at any cost. To deny the ‘truth’ of rules taught by men is often a huge pride issue rooted in man’s flawed notion that he knows all and, in effect, plays God. Be careful you don’t get caught up by these good-sounding but totally flawed ‘rules taught by men’ and stay in My Word, the Bible, for real truth from Me! Thank You, Lord Jesus Christ!

People Who Ask for Signs to Confirm Their Faith

The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven (Matthew 16:1, NIV).

Dear Wonderful, Patient, Forgiving Father God, thank You for Your patience and forgiveness for us when we sin and test You.

Jesus speaking to my heart, I believe:

People who ask for signs to confirm their faith and not by the truth of My Word are subject to all kinds of deceit and lies of the devil, who is more than happy to show them artificial signs to bring them to deeper and deeper error. Of course, I did then and do now work signs, wonders, and miracles but never to validate My being to cold-hearted unbelievers or skeptics. Signs that believers get are often to encourage them, and unbelievers tenderhearted to Me will often come to faith in Me when they see them, but many other factors have been at play, including them gradually understanding My plan of salvation as they are fed My Word and Bible-based witnessing. Thank You, Lord Jesus Christ!
