Atomic Haze-a book of poems
()
About this ebook
Tinat Atifa Masood's new book of poems covers a vast area-the unique bond between mother and child, philosophical musings on life and existence, war, social discrepancies and all shades of love- filial, romantic, humanistic and divine. The book is multi-faceted as the author herself, straddling many fields and triumphing in all of them. It is a joy to read her poems and feel in them the basic essence of poetry i.e. a love for words and the felicity to weave them into a beautiful idiom. Masood's love poems are a beautiful mix of nostalgia and loss and others like the delightful 'Nightmare' use satire and humour to great effect. Every poem takes its own time to find its audience but this set will find its audience pretty soon.

PREFACE
I was never in rhyme to be a poet
.
Ma scant knew she was creating a Me, while she gave what she thought was punishment. Propping me up with pillows on the bed, she would leave me alone to think! At the age of three, how much was I capable of thinking, I look back and wonder! She was probably expecting me to come up with a 'piece of art'. I would write pages of full-scape pages; nothing coherent, just long straight-line scribbles of incoherence; with a pen in red ink. Thank you Mummy!
My father is a man who thinks deeply enough to understand the importance of human relationships. I couldn't rub in much of his thoughts but somewhere I still think like him; for humans and humanity! Love you, Papa and thank you so much for enhancing the beauty of this book with your master-strokes!
Mubin, my friend and the father of my son, Tirus, has been critical to the core about every poem that I have written. I would recite a new composition and he would close his eyes and listen to it just as his teacher of Physics had told him to listen to the music of the Universe, while teaching him the subject in class! His stories of the stars, planets, universes and constellations impressed me a great deal! Gracias!
I have very few friends. Mayank has always taken the right
of being more than a friend. If this poetry book has been sculpted and painted, it is mostly because he has made it happen, sulking when things have stalled because as is common with me, I might have digressed from the project
