Hymn of the Heart - Rahul Nachhiketa
1
Seven Nights
When I walked alone to the wooden walls of your house
the bell, I rang some twenty times that night
a silence…. the answer to my frantic cries
I was standing death still, till the first break of light.
I came again to thee, the second night
dripped in monsoon and my face scorching white
the dew and some ‘drops’ trickling over my stubble
but thirsting enough were my eyes.
The third night, I sunk at your door
wished you will hug and cuddle my soul,
the tipsy rains brought me in sense
and I left- in sombre air once more!
Stubborn self, knocked the fourth time,
As I brought those letters inked blue
With years of yearning enveloped,
Here, I come, I wait to sprinkle some on you!
By fifth night, I was in trance,
wobbled myself towards my little known sky
Standing at window, you gazed the moon alone
jealous was I, the poet was standing so close by.
The sixth night, I whispered loud to the breeze
come on please, for once give me her heart’s key
Shall I unchain myself just once and leap
The deathly lover embrace of sleep!
And late, when the heavens shone bright
The angels fetched a lover to the tunnel of light
Beneath a door opens, she looks for the lost soul
The seventh night, was the poet’s last sigh!

Another Life
The master of lies,
Of fake, Oh man, disguised!
you throw the corporate jargon
blow some presentations.
A pie, a share more,
A pizza- the wee hours, a slice more!
Graphs hovering the skies,
A pie, bigger than last night!
The mid-night credit of a month salary,
And countless worries of face so scary!
The EMI controlled being!
Mortgaging some dreams!
Wrapped suits, massive corporate skins
Heap of untruth, mountains of sins!
Feedback sessions in glass rooms
Crystal awards, the Master’s muse!
Higher the ladder, higher the God
Lower the man, a humble discard!
The king laughs, the master roars,
A daily wager, ‘serves life’ on the floor!
I miss to look at the sky and count the stars which I did before
I miss to live the life of careless abandon,
Which I know to live, no more! I look at the sky,
And counted the stars, I took the road,
Which was not afar!
I have not moved an inch In Fifteen years I think!
Let me live life, just once, Before I finally sink!
