About this ebook
Pamella Christensen
When this author was only 4 years old, her mother read the entire Bible to her, and she fell in love with God’s Word. The Holy Bible shares with us many stories, all of them being the True Word of God. As she grew up and studied studied both the Old and New Testaments, she also led Bible studies for 49 years. God inspired her to write quite a few of them, which she then shared with many people. As you read the devotions and studies that are included in this book, she hopes that you will also grow closer to the Lord.

Some Concluding Thoughts on
The Gift of God’s Word
The Holy Bible is a wonderful book that shares with us many stories, all being the true Word of God.
As I studied both the Old and New Testaments, I also led Bible studies for forty-nine years, and God inspired me to write quite a few of them, which I then shared with many people.
This book begins with a study from the book of Genesis: In the Beginning—The First Seven Days.
The second portion of the book is a selection of Bible verses and devotions based on both Old and New Testament Verses, from Genesis to Revelation.
The third section will lead you On a Pathway through Some Psalms.
The fourth and final section confronts the challenges of raising children throughout the year:
Pam Talks to Parents.
Many of the Bible verses that are referred to come from the New King James Version (NKJV). But other translations are also used, including the Concordia Self-Study Bible; the Lutheran Study Bible (LSB); the New International Version (NIV); The Living Bible (TLB); and the Revised Standard Version (RSV).
I hope and pray that all four sections of this book will bring you joy as you grow closer to God through the study of His Word!
My heart is stirred by a noble theme
as I recite my verses for the king;
my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.
(Psalm 45:1 NIV)
002.jpgGifts are fun to receive and fun to give.
Some gifts are surprises; others we know about.
The Bible offers comments about gifts. One is found in James 1:17 (NKJV):
Every good and perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with Whom there is no shadow of turning.
God doesn’t change. We can count on Him. He doesn’t ever take back the gifts He has given to us.
Romans 8:32 (NKJV) speaks of this:
He Who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
It’s exciting to realize how much God loves us and that He has a bounty of gifts to bestow on us.
What can some of these gifts be? Write down some of the gifts God has given to you.
Here is what Psalm 37:4 (NKJV) tells us:
Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.
I absolutely love this promise of God! This verse doesn’t mean that God will give me everything my heart desires. Instead, it means that He will put the right desires—His desires—into my heart. Then, when I pray, I can be assured that I am praying according to God’s will.
First John 5:14–15 (NKJV) declares:
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
Have you ever had the experience of praying for something according to God’s will? How did things turn out? If you are willing, share your experience with others.
In addition to the desires of our hearts, what else will God give to us? He gives us, as Martin Luther said, all that I need to support this body and life. Jesus taught us to ask God to supply these needs and to trust His provision when He taught us to pray, Give us this day our daily bread
(Matthew 6:11 NKJV).
God not only provides us with daily bread; He also gives us Living Water. Listen to what Jesus said to the Samaritan woman as recorded in John 4:10 (NKJV):
If you knew the gift of God, and Who it is Who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you Living Water.
Of course, Jesus’s words are for us as well, and the gift of Living Water is available to each of us. But what exactly does this Living Water mean for us? The answer is found in Romans 6:23 (NKJV):
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
And Ephesians 2:8 (NKJV) says this:
By grace you have been saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.
God has also given us individual gifts, unique to each of our personalities. First Corinthians 7:7 (NKJV) tells us this:
Each one has his or her own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that.
First Corinthians 12:4 calls this a diversity of gifts.
Do you recognize a diversity of gifts among other members of your family, friends, and church members?
What are we to do with the gifts we receive from God? First, we are to meditate on what God has given us and then give ourselves entirely to learning to use our gifts, according to 1 Timothy 4:15, so that our progress in our Christian walk may be evident to all.
Then, as we do good to those around us, we will become rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, not only to be a blessing to those around us but also to store up for ourselves a good foundation for the times to come, that we may lay hold on eternal life (1 Timothy 6:18–19).
Just before Jesus left this world, He gave all of us a new commandment. His words are recorded in John 13:34–35 (NKJV):
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, as I have loved you; that you also
