Life Through Light and Shadows: "I Would Prefer in Life a Quiet Minority to a Loud Majority"

About this ebook
Within the poetry I write, I try to reflect on what's going on, in and around everyday life.
Be it within me or others I see. I try and interpret their situation, on the way I see it.
As I did with my 1st book ( Realm of reality rhyme and dream)
I enjoy the process of creating through poetry,
the things I experience through life.
Light and dark, Love and hate Joy and Pain.
From travel to the pandemic, History to Mental health, etc.
I also like to express myself through music.
Currently i have 3 albums. Open road, Don't let go and Songs from the Lockdown, along with a single walk beneath the moon.
I draw parallels between songwriting and Poetry, both of which I can go to anytime.
To feel totally at home

I was born on the 4th June 1973 in Leicester, England. I started to write at quite an early age, stories poems etc. I like to lose myself into other places, I could create. At a later stage in my life I got into songwriting with bands and then solo. Have released two solo albums ( independently), ‘Open road’ and ‘Don’t let go’ along with a single recorded in London, ‘Walk beneath the moon.’ I find poetry and songwriting a similar process and a joy to do.

Life Through Light and Shadows - Ian Lovell
Oh dull rainy day
Oh dull rainy day
Where does the sunshine be?
When I’m away from all life’s pressures
I need the Sun Sea and sand
Relax back to re – charge
With a rattler, while dwelling on the Cornish waves
So why does the rain come to throw it all out
Need for the rain and black cloud
To disappear
And for the sun
To shine about
Pain of the morning sun
As I wake, to bring in the day
Streams of sunlight burst through parts of the curtain undrawn
Settles the light upon my covers
Through the beam, illuminates the dust
My eyes sting, as I rise to greet the mourn
I intercept the beam, raise my hand to block
I then recline, from the uncomfortable ray
Back to the realm of sleep, and dream away
Place of people and peace
Entering through the gate
Go down by the stream
To see the wildlife, splashing around in unison
Over the rolling fields
Up pathways that takes us further back in time
Deer’s gather around for protection
Some galloping past the house, where Lady Jane once resided
It’s one of the perfect places we love to go
We can find people or peace
Just to escape the pressures of life
All the colours
Runaway from the discontented weather
Turn from the fading light that saps to your soul
For it will blind
