About this ebook

Have you found yourself in a shattered place, picking up and putting together pieces of your life only to find that just when you think you have it all together, you discover that something is missing? In the process of reconstructing and mending, you realize that somewhere along the way you have lost parts of you. Like a shattered vase put together by amateur hands, you find there is still some evidence of the breakage and even some gaps that need to be filled to restore your life. You end up believing your breakthrough is in sight, but instead, you take a good look in the mirror and realize that you can no longer identify with the person you see. You try so desperately to quickly repair the shattered pieces that you end up creating a disfigured version of you that looks “normal” on the outside, but the truth is revealed when you come face to face with the man in the mirror, and truth confronts you eye to eye: there is still work that needs to be done. In Shades of Breakthrough: Deliverance from the Shattered Place, you learn that the process of receiving your breakthrough is not an overnight one. In fact, there are many shades of breakthrough, and sometimes, stepping back and looking with new eyes is just what we need to see clearer.

Author Yvette M. Brooks invites you to read and experience her journey to breakthrough and prays that you will gain from her experiences, insights, and lessons learned as you also take a personal look at the reflection in your own mirror.

    Dedication

This book is sincerely dedicated to someone who, in his shattered

place, has taught me so much about the value of life, the

importance of facing my truth, and the need to deal with the

skeletons in the closet and the white elephant in the room.

I love you so much, TSB.

To my daughters Kendra and Kaylah and my granddaughter

Kiara who have been there with me through the many shades

of breakthrough and back again. Together, we have made it.

Together, with the help of the Lord, we will continue to stand.

To my spiritual mother, mentor, and confidante Apostle Nadine

Forrest. Thank you for being there for me through the shades that

could have taken me out. Thank you for your help in healing the

scars of the little girl in me so that this woman could walk in the

promises of God. I honor you more on this day than ever before.

You have invested so much in me, taught me so much, and loved

me into my purpose. I am forever grateful to have you in my life.

    Acknowledgments

Thank you to the beautiful cheerleader who finds time to encourage me even from her dark corners in life. Much love and blessings to you, Sis. Keiana Riley.

Special thank you to my editor, Shonell Bacon, from Bravin Publishing for another awesome experience.

Thank you, Kristia M. Beaubrun, freelance editor, for providing your overall assessment of my book.

I truly appreciate each and every one of you.

    Introduction

    Where Do I Belong?

Where do I belong? Where is my place?

How do I get there, and what will I face?

Is it my destiny to always search, to wander aimlessly throughout the earth?

Where do I belong? Where is my place?

Is it already reserved? Furnished and new?

Or is it a place where repairs are long overdue? Where do I lay my weary head?

Not my spiritual place, but my physical bed.

Where do I lift up my eyes to see this victory you always speak to me?

How long do I hide that I’m alone and weak?

How long do I smile with pain so deep?

How long do I say, I’m delivered, I’m free?

While crying inside for that deep relief.

Where do I go? Where do I belong? Where do I turn to sing my song?

Who will be there to listen to what I have to say,

Put aside all judgment, pity, and play?

Who will hold my hand when I want to go astray?

Who will be there to catch me when life just ticks me off?

I know there’s a place in heaven above.

I know God’s arms will hold me like a newborn dove.

But I’m looking for that place that’s here on earth.

The place he has promised for so many years.

The place that was promised through so many tears.

When will it be found? Or when will it find me?

When will I finally have my victory? Where do I belong?

From shattered to the shades of breakthrough.

Shades of Breakthrough is a heart’s cry that the Lord has placed on my heart to write for many years. There were so many things running through my mind and going on in my life when I finally made up my mind to put together not just the pages of this book for publishing, but also the pages of my life. Being the author of the book Releasing the Power of Relaxation: Unlock Your Door to Peace left me in a very tight place because while I was releasing the power of relaxation, God was revealing to me that there were things that I had to deal with before I could truly enjoy the benefit of stepping into the door called peace. I realized that relaxation is rest extended. You can rest for a moment, a weekend, which is good, but it is not until we enter a place of relaxation that we can really unlock the door to peace. There are very few things in life that is as easy as one, two, three and A, B, C; and peace, rest, and breakthrough are three of those things. This book shares my insights and experiences on a journey to unlock my door to peace. The revelations and lessons found in this book will also shed light on the things that hinder us from moving from the shattered place to embracing the fact that just like rest, there are shades and levels to our breakthrough.

I decided to write my book around two words that are very often jumbled together into one mass of mess. I will mostly deal with shattered and breakthrough, but I cannot leave out the in-between broken place that reveals so many shades of breakthrough. So often we fail to share with others the press and the struggle that we had to endure to get from one place to the other. The road is not always smooth and beautiful. When we wear masks and hide the truth of the struggle and growing pains, we assist in the production and reproduction of people who are fainting under the weight of the process that appeared to be an overnight success from the outside.

    Each of the two
