    It was another boring day on the Crescent, Gilly, Sarah and Johnny were sent out to play as usual. Johnny scuffed along the pavement in his play jeans and cowboy hat - as he was called Sheriff and lived up to his name, bossing the girls about. Gilly and Sarah ambled along behind in their play dresses and gingham plimsolls - pulling at the privet hedges as they went.

    I’m hungry said Johnny - my big brother ate all the toast this morning and I was shooed out the play before I could tell Mum.
