    Willow's World - Heather Shelby

    Willow’s World

Willow and Billy Bunny are married and have three children: Rosie, who attends bunny beauty school; little Bertie, who has just started primary school; and baby Bella.

Mr Billy Bunny is a post bunny and delivers letters and parcels in Toadstool Village and the surrounding villages.

Willow Bunny loves to help and likes to get involved in everything that goes on in the village. Everyone loves her kind and sunny nature.

The family have made many friends since they came to live in Toadstool Village. Amongst there many friends are… Gerty and Morris Mouse and their daughter Milly, who live in the Toadstool next door; Hattie Hedgehog, who runs the village stores; Dotty Deer; Lettie Lamb; Dr Ollie Otter, who loves to go fishing in his spare time; Felix Fox; Bodger Badger the local handyman; Violet Pig; Suzie Squirrel, whose mother owns the local flower shop; and Dilly Duck.

    The New Family

It was a bright March morning in Toadstool Village, and though the sun was shining, it was a very chilly day.

There had been lots of excitement for the last few days, and everyone had been chattering away on street corners, in the village store and market, and the children had all been whispering in class at school. All this was because a new family would be moving into the empty toadstool at the end of Bramble Lane.

Hattie Hedgehog, who ran the village store, had been told that the new owners were a family of four, and that meant there must be two children, which was why all the children in the village were so excited and looking forward to having some new friends.

Today was the day the family were moving into their new home, but no one knew what time they would be arriving. Curtains kept twitching as the neighbours looked out of their windows every time they heard a noise, but lunchtime came and went and the children went back to school, and still there was no sign of them.

At 3pm the children came home, all expecting there to be some news, but there was still nothing to tell them.

Teatime was rushed as the children raced to eat their food in case they missed anything. Homework was done, dishes were washed, and soon after, the children were told it was time to get ready for bed, they were all very disappointed.

At half past seven, the sound of an engine was heard entering the village. Milly Mouse, who lived next door to the empty Toadstool, rushed to the window.

‘Look, Mummy, look, Mummy, it’s Mr Badger’s van. He must be bringing the new family,’ said Milly.

‘So it is, but it’s time for bed now, but I am sure if you get up bright and early tomorrow morning, you’ll be able to see them,’ said Milly’s mummy, Gerty.

Milly was not at all happy about having to go to bed without seeing the new family, but she knew it was her bedtime and she was getting tired.

The next morning Milly did as her mother had said and was up and ready for school much earlier than she would normally have been. The curtains were still closed next
