About this ebook
Many of us have embraced something or even someone and put them or it in the place of our identity. We compare ourselves to others based on accomplishments and money. It’s easy to place identity on labels, external approval, and material objects. However, objects have never said, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.”
Try On Your Own Shoes is intended to help you find out who you are so that instead of living a life of comparison, you can be secure in your identity. Your identity lies in Christ. We don’t have to place our self value by what we have. We don’t have to measure our worth according to anything but God and his word.
It is time to set your eyes on discovering who you truly are. Focus on what the word of God says about you and not on people’s opinions. Always remember that you were made in the image of God. Your potential is in Him, and it’s time to discover the real you.

After being told he was legally blind, God begin to show him that who he was was not in external things, but in God. Receiving that word from God, James was forever changed and began to walk by faith and not by sight.

INTRODUCTION: IT IS
TIME TO BE YOURSELF
That can be a struggle in this hour we are living in. The world is full of division and stereotypes. If someone were to ask you to define who you truly are, what would your answer be? Would numerous thoughts of others’ opinions of you come to the surface and you pick which to speak as your identity? Would you let a situation you’ve faced become your answer to define you, or would you look at the color of your skin to determine your answer? My purpose for this book is to help individuals find out who they are, so that instead of living a life comparing themselves to others, they can be secure in their identities.
I want you to understand that you no longer have to measure who you are by what you have. I want to help people stop putting themselves on a popularity scale, weighing themselves and their self-worth by the standards of the world’s approval. We must know that no one has to chase money, believing that their identity is determined by the riches they possess. I know many of us grew up saying, I just want to be rich when I get older,
so we chase money, not knowing that what God has placed in us can produce what we need.
It was a journey for me to find my purpose and to discover who I am. My story, which later became a testimony, is what inspired me to write this book. I went from being a soldier in the US military to being a veteran at a young age. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the age of nineteen. This is an unfortunate health condition that devastated me. I went through the stages of why me?
and being upset that my life seemed to be changing for the worst. The condition made me legally blind, and through me losing my sight, the Lord helped me to truly see who I am. Jesus is a healer, and I do not want you to doubt that. Through becoming legally blind, my eyes were opened to see from his view. God has truly changed my life and helped me to see who I really am in Christ. I want this book to set your eyes on discovering who you truly are.
