William R. Sorenson

It’s based on hope and prayers. It’s about feelings that rise up and take you. And yes, it’s for all the hearts that have been broken. It’s as simple as the wind. It’s as wild as the ruggedness for as far as you can see. For the rain and the tears, for everything you have felt. For a love as pure as sunshine, for a single touch. It’s all of this. It’s for the light that shines against my mountain.

My Mountain - William R. Sorenson

    MY WAY

    38564.png

I’m tired tonight, I guess it’s the price I’m willing to pay.

I don’t know how to stop, I have to own the day.

And that sun beats down, as it burns and I make my bet.

I’ll finish what I started, no regrets through the stinging sweat.

I sing as I swing, the dust is hard to swallow.

Pounding heart, heavy breath, along this stretch that I follow.

I knew what I was in for, I never gave it a second thought.

I signed my name and there it will remain, there it will rot.

The cuts, the gashes, the blood all becomes a piece, another part.

No worries here, it’s a long ways from my heart.

My intentions are simple, an honest day for what it’s worth.

Satisfied, walking away covered and stained in this surrounding earth.

Yes I’m tired tonight, I gave it my all, it was a perfect day.

I’ll do it all over again tomorrow, it’s what I do, it’s my way.

    SETTING IT FREE

    38564.png

I set it free, just to see if it would make it’s way back.

I let it all go, a dream, I watched it fade to black.

They say a heart will do that, if you love it, set it free.

I whisper I love you to the wind, hoping you’ll

close your eyes and remember me.

You don’t have to look back, I wish you well.

I’ll hold onto my pride knowing only time can tell.

I’m amazed by the days and how my heart grows.

A peace in my eyes, a tenderness that shows.

So much beauty in my quiet, those simple joys that I find.

Something beyond words, so precious and kind.

I’ve had my talks with God, I’ve seen his footprints in the sand.

It reminds me I’m not alone, I merely have to hold out my hand.

So I whisper, my words are as free as you.

My horizon, my ocean, a dream, will it come true?

    THE FRESHEST BREATH

    38564.png

I want to run, I want to break these chains and set it free.

All the doubt, the failures, this weight on my shoulders crippling me.

All those days, propped up on lies and empty promises.

Being taken advantage of, the hurt, the compromises.

Those lonely nights and whose to blame.

More emotion then I could bare to take, the shame.

I stand here now before you all, slow and steady.

Not one more minute, it’s no longer heavy.

It’s not my burden anymore, your faults are your own.

Take your hate, your dirt and leave me alone.

I refuse to suffocate and die a little more for the likes of you.

The manipulation is over, yes I’m afraid it’s true.

I’m setting it free, my spirit, before it’s forsaken.

With that being said, it’s the freshest breath I’ve ever taken.

    THE QUIET

    38564.png

Forgive me, I’m begging you, just stop and take the time.

Dry your eyes out sweet precious, see how they shine.

Pray with me, sway with me, hold out your hand.

We’ll write out our names, this stick, a quiet shore and the sand.

Life is a whisper, listen close and you will hear.

    Butterfly wings and heartbeats, music
