    Foreword

    Every book has a story and this particular book is no different. Its story is one of deception and love. The deception was, I’m not ashamed to say, mine. My father (whose work you will read in these pages) has been writing poetry for many years and until last year had never even entertained the idea of pursuing its publication or even it being read by anyone.

    Unfortunately for him, my wife, brothers and I felt that this was a great shame and this is where the deception came into play. I managed to procure the extensive number of scribbled poems on paper in various stages of decay, such were their age. They were then typed up by my wife Abbie, with some translation required of the ‘Forest’ vernacular.

    Luckily, my older brother John-Paul is a great artist and he created the brilliant illustrations and cover inspired by Dad’s words.

    I then compiled a version of this book and we presented it to him on Father’s
