INTRODUCTION
On special occasions such as birthdays and award achievements, my family and I love to celebrate by going out to eat at our local Hibachi restaurant.
As we are invited in and seated around the over-sized rectangular grill, we contemplate the deliciousness of the up and coming meal along with the entertainment of the ‘Happy Cook’ of the day. Will it be the steak, the chicken, or the shrimp hibachi that will be enticing our taste buds? How about white or fried rice to begin filling our bellies as the veggies take a little longer to sauté? Hummm, such appetizing questions. So, are you hungry?
All is fine and good as the conversation around the table is underway about why we are here in the first place. But the adventure hasn’t even begun yet.
It is at the end of the meal, and the server is on their way with the check and a hand full of the ever-mysterious fortune cookies that are ready to reveal their hidden secrets.
We pay for the meal and reach out our hand to take the cookie that is closest to us. Crack!
Many seek you out for insightful advice.
Oh, will they now, Mr., Mrs, and/or Ms. Fortune Cookie! Your wisdom can be so cryptic.
This book is dedicated to

In hopes that when I am gone,
They will have something to look back and remember…
My humor, My happiness, and My love.
I love you both so much, Mom.

If you want the rainbow, you must first tolerate the rain
Let us sit down together and not talk about the rainbow but talk about the rain. The rainbow is a given. Scientists explain it as being light that is separated into its colors by the water in the atmosphere. Believers explain it as a sign from God to never destroy life on earth again. However, the rain can come in many forms such as a slow and steady downpour that saturates the ground like a monsoon, a whirlwind like a hurricane causing havoc and devastation, a brilliant darkening of the sky with flashes of light like a thunderstorm, and the life changing convergence of all three in a perfect storm. For a beloved family member (BFM), I was ever present to witness a hurricane-like rain while keeping an eye on the rainbow.
My immediate family does a lot of camping, but we also like to cruise. My husband and I took our first cruise in early 2002. We were accompanied by my mom, dad, sister, and a close aunt and uncle. Six wonderful days of no cleaning, cooking, or driving long distances was the selling point. I, also, loved coming back to our small room after dinner to find little chocolates laying on our pillows and the towel-folded animals on our bed. Since then, my immediate and extended family have continued this style of vacationing because it has been the best bang for our buck.
We normally gather a consensus among those who have cruised with us before; to check schedules and available dates and start planning the next adventure at least a year in advance. While planning our latest cruise, my Beloved Family Member called me to tell me that she was receiving some extra cash from her tax return, so I mentioned that she and my niece should come on the cruise. She was all for it, and we booked them a room
