The Bastard of Long - Samantha Friello
Now Made Obvious
a quintessential, gold digger you
would never have thought him to be
for he has carefully scrutinized all
of his options before concluding
that you would be the perfect target
to fulfill his high-class, monetary needs
sweeping you off your feet with his
larger-than-life persona while placating
you with dime store flowers doomed to
thankfully wither, wilt, and then die
for this façade of a relationship
will never gain momentum after glimpsing
his self-satisfied smirk matching the sinister
look now made obvious within the deep, dark
depths of his penetrating, sociopathic eyes
Everything and All
taking life’s excruciating
circumstances into your own hands
for you will undoubtedly try to
sever existing ties connecting
you to the earth’s humid and rainy
weather constructing mud out of sand
yearning to recapture the brilliant
sunrise’s invigorating beauty along
with its miraculous ability to be
resurrected, revived, and reborn
for you would give up everything
and all to relive the feeling of
profound love and undying hope
never to be experienced again after
your heart has been maliciously
battered, bruised, and irreparably torn
Hip! Hip! Horray!
competing amongst some of the most
beautiful women in the world
for you are an attractive, yet
desperate girl who lives to throw
up your baton, wave your pom-poms,
and flirtatiously dip then twirl
a performance entailing a myriad
of backflips, animated jumps,
handstands, and acrobatic hoops
for your team is apt to begrudgingly
carry your dead weight while you
pretend to gush, submit, and then swoon
taking part in an important
