About this ebook

Darling Last Time is a poetry book based on one woman's perspective of the many trials and tribulations experienced through living life. This work entails words of great courage and beauty, bringing a sense of conviction and honesty to readers; male or female, aging from the late teens and on up.

Darling Last Time entails the emotions experienced, as if on a timeline, through healing from physical illness, transitions which occur mentally and physically after the break-up or at the start of a new relationship(s), starting a new life, or gathering the hope and perseverance it takes to go on; despite numerous obstacles we may face in our lives.

Darling Last Time also exhibits a rare sense of humor, found in poems about your "normal" working day, housewives and their duties at home, fast food and the grand holiday experience!

Darling Last Time depicts the fashionably funny side of everyday events experienced by everyone. So, read on to experience a roller coaster ride; the towering highs and plummeting lows involved in life. Oh, and don't forget, there's a few laughs in there, too!

    About the Author

    For Mom and Don

and in loving memory of my father,

    Louis Friello

    Thank you

    God

    Darling Last Time

    AWESTRUCK

    remember

    fireflies and timbers

    crackling and separating

    in the fall

    the myriad ways

    you acknowledged

that I was the most beautiful one

    of them all

    a summer mystery

    superseding any doomsday

    forthcoming

    for we wrapped ourselves up

    in weightless bubbles

    enchanting sea-salts

    and fruitful, fragrant soap

    silky bodies glistening

    within languid aftermath

    lounging freely

    were desirous days

    misconstrued

    dear attitudes

    never to improve

    your lustful countenance

    full of glitz and glamour

    dripping off you

    is rainwater

    discouraging mosquitoes

    from basking in your glow

    I MENTION THIS BECAUSE

    I mention this because

he was so good for me

    he was the sun

    draped over my body

    he was every dream

    enlivening me

    to go on

    but maybe sometimes

I have to let it go

    presuming he couldn’t have loved

    as much as I’ve had

for I could never have walked away

    I mention this because

    he was my haven

    my only dream

I had thrown myself at him

as I’ve had so many times before

and as the wind turns to heartache

    I slip away into nothingness

    these haunting dreams of him

    I mention this because

I am unable to sleep or eat

    and the night drones on

    effortlessly

    my tired body

    flushed of all emotion

    tears like the river

    seem unending

    but I know

    this devastating hurt

    will slip away

    eventually

    and maybe

    he has left me

    hurt and unassuming

    but his memory

    cannot be washed away

for this was to become my fate

    all along

    CUT AND PASTE

    wasn’t she luscious

    with her slimming, gripping thighs

    leaking gray courage
