    Black Eyes

    Black unblinking eyes,

    Watch,

    Nothing but iridescent heat waves,

    Move in the suffocating silence,

    Somewhere, a deep rumbling,

    Echo’s against parched Wadi walls,

    Growing louder, shuddering the ground,

    Suddenly, Lizards flee in frenzied panic.

    Black eyes blink.

    A wall of thunderous roaring waters,

    Reflects into their depths,

    The Crow takes to the sky,

    Below the Wadi floor erupts,

    Flash flood.

    Those black eyes watch in awe,

    As rocks and sand are torn from the earth.

    The crow knows.

    In the aftermath, the stifling heat,

    Will have sucked up all traces,

    And once again, the desert will lapse into silence,

    For a while nothing will move,

    Rocks will settle, lizards
